GTKY #6
Sorry folks, worked way to many hours the last couple days and by the time I got home, didn't feel like getting on the Internet. Long days and snow I am SO OVER! GIVE ME SPRING PLEASE!!! I'll try to keep these going as often as possible, please forgive me when I miss a day or two.
Hugs,
1. If you have a SO, where did you meet them and how? Curious minds wanna know...
2. What's your favorite tradition on Easter?
3. How many siblings do you have?
4. Name just one trama that occured in your younger years.
1. No SO at this time and where I met the last one, I don't want to find another.
2. I would say it would be to get together with as many of my family members as possible, since most of us haven't seen one another since Christmas. We're all in Ohio, but everyone works and several miles apart, so the family time is the best. I can't attend church on Easter because so many other people do and I am scent-sensitive and get ill from everyone's "smell" so even though I love the event, can't do, or I'd be sick for the entire rest of the day.
3. Just 5! lol, there is Me, Sue, Jeff, Tim, Tony and Jenni. I am the oldest of the lot and my youngest sister is 16 years younger, I got my DL 2 weeks after she was born.
4. I said just one because I know many of us have more or some less, we can discuss these at a later time, perhaps. If you've been lucky enough to have no trauma, praise Jesus!
1 was for many years, about this time of year our family was displaced because we lived a stones throw away from Lake Erie and it would flood all the time, anytime the big N.E.aster winds came in, the water would run over into our area like Niagra Falls. To be woken up in the middle of the night with the sounds of so much water was frightening. Usually we would be out of our homes on average of 2 weeks each time and would stay either at the school or be sent off to relatives.
Yay, I love GTKY threads.
1) Tim is from Louisiana. We were both interns in Washington DC and met at an intern training at the Library of Congress. His DC program ended about a month after I got there, so he went back to school at LSU...we missed each other, so I flew down to visit my "good friend" for a weekend and nearly fell over when I saw him after getting off the plane - I didn't realize I was in love with him until I saw him again! Lol.
Despite everyone in the world thinking we were nuts, we got engaged six weeks after that airport meeting, which was in October. He transferred from LSU to Ohio State that December, and we were married the following May! It will be three years this May and we just have more fun every day.
2) I just love getting together with family, etc. I usually love buying a beautiful spring outfit, but not this year - it's too cold!
3) I have an older brother and a younger sister. I'm close with both of them, but I have a very special relationship with my sister (she's almost 17). She looks JUST LIKE ME, except she weighs about 135 pounds. I know just what I'll look like when I get closer to goal.
4) I really didn't have any trauma as a child. I had my struggle with my weight, which was hard at times...but I always had supportive family and friends, and was always very active and involved in the community. I really consider myself to be blessed - even the worst things I've gone through haven't been that bad compared to some people I've met through my graduate school training.
Have a good day, everyone!
Jennifer

good morning!
1 - Steve and I met at Incahoots - the country music club that used to be at the Continent. We will be married 11 years this June!
2 - Easter egg hunt with the girls! They still believe and have so much fun.
3 - Just 1, a brother 3 years younger who lives in TN. Don't get to see him often enough, but we talk every month.
4 - My mom passed away when I was 22. She had 2 open heart surgeries and was waiting on a third, but just didn't make it. Hurts less now, but I still miss her lots! We were very close and I hate that she never got to meet Steve or see my girls. I'm sure she is watching over them now!

1. You all may end up thinking badly of me because of this so I'll explain and hope u don't think badly of me....I was with my exboyfriend for 4 years but this last August his father passed away, his dad and I did not get along and his dad died of a heart attack at age 51 all of a sudden then after that my ex who lived with me and our boys started being gone alot, like was hardly ever here, I felt like a single mom, we got along just fine but he would go see his friends or his family and if I needed him to help me with the kids I had to nag him and felt like I was bothering him, well his best friend (ur probably going...GASP...) WAS around and was helping me with the kids and stuff I needed done around the house while my boyfriend was wherever, it got to the point where his friend was always around so I started seeing his friend (James) differently...then I ended up falling for James and seeing my boyfriend as more of a friend, so me and my ex broke up and now I am with his friend (yah they're still friends) and James lives here with me and the boys, we've been together now for 5 months and are happy. Pretty crappy I know but I tried to work things out with my ex many many times...it's a sad situation and I wish things were different and that I could make everyone happy. I have issues I know...sometimes I wonder what I'm doing and think I messed up but then I'm happy too and don't feel like a single mom anymore (not that there's anything wrong with being a single mom ; p)
2. Favorite tradition on Easter is for my kids to come downstairs and realize the easter bunny has come, and look for their eggs, oh and dying the easter eggs is great fun too, this year I made an "easter egg tree" that's in my dining room, its sooo cool!!! I felt sooo crafty...lol
3. I don't have any siblings, my dad died a month before I was born and my mom got her tubes tied.
4. When I was like 3 I was at my aunts house and she had an inground pool and I was out on the patio we were all chillin around the pool this day and my mom and my aunt went in the house and I stayed outside, well there was their doberman out there with me and of course I was kinda scared I was little and this dog was big and I wasn't familiar with the dog we were visiting from out of town with them well this dog chased me and I ended up along the side by the deep end and somehow fell in (my uncle swears the dog knew what it was doing an pushed me in, dogs are smart but I don't know that they are that smart and vindictive..?) well I don't know how long I was underwater I didn't know how to swim I was unconcious and my aunt pulled me out and I was laying on the patio and she was doing whatever it is that they do to get the water out of u and to get u breathing again, well needless to say I don't particularly like dogs much, they're okay long as they kind of keep their distance and I don't know how to swim I don't like water on my face and am scared to go in the ocean or lakes above my waist pools are okay as long as they aren't above my shoulders. What a wimp...lol

Survey says....
1. I met cheryl in West Virigina last summer. We began talking via phone, yahoo, email etc. We instantly just seemed to click. It might seem weird to some but, we just felt a connection due to our having both been morbidly obese we just "fit". Love you Cheryl!
2. My only tradition would be to have a nice meal with family and give thanks for my many blessings.
3. I have 1 brother named Sean. He is 6'2 and skinny like a rail.
4. Just one? Geeze that is no fun...I fell into a just dug swimming pool before they poured the concrete and the water was dirty and slimey so I wasn't able to stand. Also unable to swim I went under the water very fast and was about to drown. I can still remember looking up towards the surface and seeing the sky above me. I swolled allot of water while I panic'd to get to the top. I heard what my mother calls "death voices"..I heard my mother crying saying "my baby is dead..." I heard my brother who was only just born talking to someone as a grown man saying.. "I had a brother he died when I was just a baby..." I screamed underwater and grabbed in all directions but, I couldn't swim. I found floating underwater a stick about 4 foot long I grabbed it and shoved it to the bottom of the pool and used it like a cane to keep my head above water and "hobbled" out of the pool using my stick/cane as my life line. When I came up from the pool I ran home crying. My mother freaked out, of course! I went to bed and got sick for 2 days with a high fever from the nasty water I swolled in the pool. I have never forgotten the sound of the death voices. There is more but, I don't think anyone would ever believe what I heard.....here is a clue though have you ever stood in a crowded place and heard multiple conversations at once? Imagine doing that between this world and the next. What do you think you might hear?

1. If you have a SO, where did you meet them and how? Curious minds wanna know...
Yes, we met at an ObesityHelp event in Wheeling but we did not even talk much there, maybe 20 words. We started emailing after and got to know each other better.
2. What's your favorite tradition on Easter?
Searching for just the right things for the kids Easter Baskets. I love displaying the items in them and watching their faces as they pull things out.
3. How many siblings do you have?
One brother that is two years older and is constantly on my nerves.
4. Name just one trama that occured in your younger years.
Being overweight all my life has been trauma enough.

1. I met my very special husband on the internet! Yep, an aol chatroom for 40's singles. We talked on the net for several months before meeting in person. We didn't live too far apart. Well, we met on 2/15/2003 and were married on 8/23/2003 and I could not be happier. He is the best thing that has ever happened to me!
2. Well, it used to be the Easter Dinner. Now is it Church!
3. 1 sister, Bonnie, 1 brother, Ed and a deceased brother, Ken (whom I miss very much) I am the youngest and was spoiled rotten, I admit it.
4. It was about 8 years ago. I was having my 4th back surgery for ruptured discs. Well, they put me under and I coded and died for a few minutes. It was traumatic but also peaceful. You see, during that time, I saw my Mother. It was a very bright, colorful place. She hugged me and said, "it is not time for you to be here yet", I turned around and woke up in the intensive care unit. (gives ya chills, doesn't it) The worse part was waking up on the ventilator and I couldn't take the tube out of my throat! Scary!
I know! I am really really tired of all this GRAY ICKY COLD WET YUCKY STUFF!!! I am having sun separating anxiety...
Ok, here we go!
1. I met Earl online. Yep. I did. I had been through 2 HORRIBLE marriages, and after the 2nd one I said ENOUGH!! However...I decided it would be ok to date for some...eh hum...adult interaction/attention, you know... so I decided to try the internet. I was really surprised to find guys out there that likes BBW's. I just happened to put an ad on one of the sites (back when it was FREE) and basically said, "I don't want a husband, and I don't want a father for my children, I just want someone to go out and enjoy some adult company" Earl's email said "Pick me! Pick me!" So I did. Best thing I have ever done. We both SWORE neither one of us wanted a serious relationship. Well, we are just like best friends with benefits let me tell you. Before long we realized we were truly soulmates. We just took a long time to find each other. The rest is history. He is the love of my life, my best friend, my rock. What more can I say? I am very blessed, and glad I put the ad out there!! You know what he told me recently? "I never saw you as a heavy person, I just loved you." Now that we have both had surgery we can enjoy so much more together. Thick or thin, we're gonna be together as long as the Gool Lord above lets us!
2. Well, um, my kids are out of the easter egg thing, and I really don't attend church on a regular basis and refuse to be a hypocrit that goes only 2 days out of the year, so really...none. Sorry, nothing exciting going on here. I am not cooking dinner, not buying chocolate, no eggs, just thanking God for blessing me with one more glorious day to be alive.
3. Just one. Harry. My younger brother. That's enough. If you knew my brother you would agree. He is a riot. We have a lot of fun together. But, you know we hated each other when we were teenagers. I am 21 months older than he is and for the first time in my life, I weigh less than he does...hahahaha that's what he gets for calling me Valbloata!! I do love him tho!
4. Oh, I really don't have a "trauma" per se, I mean, I have been through a lot in my life, but I wouldn't classify any of it as a trauma. I've had rough rows to hoe, but haven't we all?
Ok, that's it. This has to be the longest one yet!!
Stay well, have a great Easter weekend gang!
Val
