Waiting for approval STINKS!!!!!!!!!!

Tabitha, Welcome to the club! I am having my surgery at OSU as well...although I don't know when yet...I HAVE been approved, but have not received the "official" letter from Medical Mutual yet. (They called me on March 12) There is a light at the end of the tunnel...I went through the OSU screening from Jan. 2004 to Aug. 2004....had my nutrition class in Aug./Sept. (it is very good by the way)....I was denied by my insurance the first time on Sept. 10...I was not approved until March 12 after many many battles with them. The positive side to this is that this long waiting period, (while very devastating in many ways), helped me rid myself of any fear I had relating to the surgery. I am confident that this is the correct decision for me. I am SO ready to make all of the lifestyle changes, that I have already incorporated many of them into my routine and have lost 22 lbs. over the 6 months. I have imagined so many "perfect timing" scenarios (like Las Vegas for you) since last June, I have lost count. My entire summer was put on hold just waiting for the surgical date, as was my fall. I finally decided to live life with oot subconsciously planning around a phantom surgical date. It made me happier and better able to cope with my insurance fight. Now that I have approval, I have decided that WHENEVER it is possible for me to have the surgery, I am GOING. EVERYTHING else will have to wait...and if it can't wait, some one else will have to take the responsibility. I don't know how fast Aetna works, but for your sake, I hope things move along for you as quickly as possible. The best thing is...you are not alone...everyone on this web site is here to lend support and offer suggestions!!! Liz
