I'm now 4 weeks post-op and have had no complications so far(thank god). A good friend of mine who is now 2 years post-op also had no complications until this year. She has had two bowel obstructions since January 6th. As post-ops, how do we avoid this? I don't understand how we get these considering we can hardly eat enough to even have a bowel movement. My friend didn't even know she had an obstruction until her bowel was on the verge of exploding. Does anyone know what the symptoms are and what can we do to avoid this? Thanks for any input Temeka

Temeka, Bowel obstructions are caused by adhesions or scar tissue inside the belly. There is nothing you can or can't do, it just happens or it doesn't. Fortunately, usually it doesn't! Good luck, Dr. C The Deaconess Surgical Weight Loss Center Cincinnati, Ohio (513) 559-2545

I have had 3 of them. Dr. C repaired my last one, which was in July of 2004. He did a great job!!! Sandy
