SANDY PIERCE STORY
Here is a little bit of my background, to bring you up to speed.
I had my surgery in Columbus on January 4th, 2001. It was an open RNY.
Things were great the first 2.5 years. I lost all my weight in 10 months.
My levels were always wonderful.
I had my TT and breast augmentation shortly after I reached my goal weight.
Than came the first hernia. I immediately went to my plastic surgeon. He agreed to repair it, so that the scar would look nice.
Shortly after that, I had hernia number 2. Again, he repaired it.
Than in September 2003, I had my 1st bowel obstruction. This came out of the blue. Although, I was popping gas-x like candy. This should have been a sign for me.
One week later, I had bowel obstruction #2. I remained in the hospital 3 weeks this time, and almost lost my life.
Life was going along pretty smoothly.
Than in late June, I met Dr. C. I attended his Open House for his new wing at Deaconess Hospital.
I told him I was having these "pains". He immediately ordered an Upper GI. Well, it was time for bowel obstruction #3. This was done July 04.
I than became anemic. I had to go for an iron infusion (lasting about 8 hours)
I thought things were going okay. Until about 8 weeks ago or so.
I have been feeling very tired, muscles aching, numbness and tingling in all limbs, nausea, loss of appetitie, headaches, etc.etc.
I first went to my old PCP. He said my problems were because of "Cold weather".
I called Dr. C, and asked him to order some extensive blood work.
I than found a new PCP. He sent me for 3 days of Thiamine IV treatments (6 hours each day).
I thought this would be the end of it......NOT....
I went to Dr. Selwyn, and he said he would look over all my operative reports.
I than called him last week complaining about confusion. I didn't know where I was, or couldn't remember anything.
I was than admited to the hospital for treatment.
So that brings us up to the tube feedings. He wants to bulk me up for 3 weeks, and than prepare me for my revision surgery in April.
I am asking for your support. I would love your calls, prayers, cards, and visits.
Thank you everyone, and God Bless.

Sandy,
I have been following your story since I first considered bypass surgery 2 yrs ago. I am originally from Cinti and I was glad to see someone from my hometown posting on these boards. I ultimately decided on the LapBand due to my fear of the bypass. I know many who have it are very successful and I am so sorry for your troubles. I will be praying for you. Keep us posted.

Speaking of looking wonderful........what have you done with that woman I met back in August? Holy cow Cindy, you look completely different, and most stunning I must add.
If you read my profile you know I'm struggling with some emotional issues right now, but for the most part I'm doing fine. I can't remember when I've felt this good physically and as soon as I chase away the ghosts of La's past I'll really be good to go.
Sandy, I am praying for you, friend. I am so sorry to hear of the struggles you have had to endure. I hope the revision will help you. Are you having the surgery completely reversed or just revised some? When is this surgery planned for? Please let me know so I can have my women's group praying for you.
Love and God bless,
Jaimee
