Having a bad day
Hey Jill, your abour 4 mos out right??? Well your hormones are catching up with you. This happened to me also. Even dumb stuff on the tv made me want to cry. And I DID!!!!!!Evern the commericals made me cry. LOL
From what I've been told and learned a lot of our hormones are stored in fat cells and now that your losing a lot of those fat cells your hormones are all out of wack.
Vent as much as you want give it a few days or weeks and it should pass. If it doesn't please ask your doctor about it.
We're all here for you. I'll be out tonignt untill about 9pm but if you want to chat after that CALLL ME. 743-6365

Your life is going through so many changes right now. You will have many days like this. Most people are not prepared for the mental journey that this surgery takes you through. I suggest reaching out on the boards and finding a good support group or talking to a paid professional to help you through it. What works is different for everyone, so you have to reach out and find what is best for you. I have found that at different markers on my journey different things helped me.

Hey!
I noticed in your profile you mentioned depression. Might be a good idea just to touch base with your counselor or psych. Never hurts.
As you can see we all go through this. You are at one of those points post op that it is kind of common, you don't have to do it alone though!!
Finding your support is key. Following up with professional support is important too!
And then again, just being a woman is a hard thing sometimes! We are such emotional creatures anyway!! Sometimes a good cry is just the best therapy you can do. But, you know if the blues don't go away, please promise me you will check it out with a professional ok?
My big concern after surgery was depression too. I suffer from Bi polar disorder and post operative depression is very normal. So, I was really sure that I had my family and friends keep tabs on my moods and behaviors. I had some depression for the first 6 weeks or so, then it begans to resolve as I recouperated and became more active again.
Take care sweetie... ((((((((((((((((((((((BIG HUG)))))))))))))))))))))))
You know we love ya here!

JIll, you and I had surgery one day apart and I am having the same problem. I am having to force myself to stay away from my bed right now. I owuld like nothing more than to crawl in there and hibernate until my mood picks back up. Make sure you call your doctor if this persists. Depression isn't something that should be taken lightly. If you need to talk, e-mail me and I will send you my phone number. I am a good listener and would be happy to help.
Hugs,
Jaimee
Thanks to all of you for your replies. It is nice to know that is a normal thing for wls patients. I have a history of depression but have done so well with it that I am no longer on medication for it. I want to stay that way. I think part of it may be that I am home all of the time with being unemployed. I told Jamie that I think that once I start school next week that will help too.
I love all of the support this board gives!!!
Hugs to you Jill!
I also have depression...I take zoloft and it has worked wonders for me. From what everybody said what you are going through is normal, so maybe it would help if you started back on a short term basis until your hormones stabilize a bit.
That's great that you are going back to school. What are you going to study? I'm working on my MBA. I had to take a break due to my upcoming surgery, but hope to go back as soon as I'm a bit more stable. I'm 1/3 of the way through the program and have about another year to go.
Hope you get to feeling better!
Laura
Hi, Jill, I am sorry that I didn't get to meet you at the last Dayton group meeting, I have had depression for many years and have been on Celexa which has really helped me and I just didn't stop taking it after surgery because I don't want to feel bad, and I have tried to stop it before, but symptoms always come back. Its good to know that there are a lot of other people in the same boat! Take care! Chris
