I saw on one of the threads that you're a VISTA volunteer, and I had to comment because that's so cool! I do some volunteer work with the Columbus Coalition for the Homeless, and we have two VISTA volunteers working with our organization. Just curious about where you volunteer. Sorry if I'm being too nosey...

This year I am working with the Toledo NW Ohio Food Bank, doing a study on hunger, kinda ironic I think...lol I am a second year, so this will probably be my last with VISTA, unless I get high recommendations, which I hope I do, I would love to grow with the program. Maybe go into training or be a Director of a non-profit organization. I'm just a volunteer at heart, have been volunteering for about 20 years now. (I got my second year on a recommendation, I'd love to know who so I could thank them! I was sitting home healing from surgery when they called me for this job) I bet I know or have met your VISTA's while we were in training in Columbus about a month ago. Mary's cool, I owe her a phone call. I only met Nick on one day and he was out in the hall.. lol you'd have to ask. I love Angela (Y.E.P.) and Dinky, they are great people to work for, with so much drive and passion for their jobs. They both have amazing life stories that are astounding, they are incredible women! I love strong women, especially if they are making a difference. (no I'm not gay...lol just impressed) If none of these names sound familiar, boy will I feel stupid!

I would love to do non-profit management as well. I'm finishing my graduate program now (social work and public policy) but I might do a certificate of non-profit management program next year. I know a lot about fundraising and budgeting from my graduate program, but I could always learn more. Now, none of those names sound familiar, but it's possible that we have more VISTAs than the ones I work with, so don't feel stupid! Lol. Ours are named Jenny (really tall and skinny girl) and Jerrod (young guy with dark hair and a beard), and I only know them because of activities for Homeless Awareness Week that we've worked on together. VISTA is such a cool program. I'm glad you're getting to do another year with it! And I agree with you, I love strong women AND volunteering.
