Pureed Meats..
At my appt with my nutritionist she brought to my attention that I would be required to eat pureed meat and that in the hospital they made you eat baby food meat. Please tell me that OSU doesnt make you eat that stuff!!!! I remember feeding that to my kids and about barfing doing so.
Is there any other way around the pulverized meat??
By the way I am 10 pounds down to my required 20 pound pre surgery weight loss. They gave me 4 weeks of nutritional counseling with a 20 pound weight loss goal. So far so good!!
Maybe I should just eat pureed meat and that way I will be sure to lose the other 10 pounds.. LOL
Have a great weekend,
Laura
I am going through the process at OSU and my surgery is scheduled for March 29th... anyway, they will explain everything to you about what you can and can't eat before you have surgery... No they wont make you eat baby food... my instructor actually made a yuck face when we talked about eating baby food... She gave us all kind of different things to try... you will have to go through a 4 week class before surgery that will explain everything you need to do after surgery... Good luck in your journey... Keep reaching for the stars!!
EEEEEWWW Who told you this? Yucky.
No, you won't be fed pureed baby food or baby food meat in the hospital!!
You can choose what way you want to get your diet in, be it protein drinks, pureed foods or baby food. I opted for the protein drinks.
As far as I know, unless they have changed it, you will most likely be given clears (broth) and maybe something to the effect of cream of wheat and an ensure or glucerna type drink to get in before you go home.
You will go over that in your pre op teaching class. The important thing is to really work on getting your protein and water in after surgery.
When you advance to a soft diet, one good "pureed" meat to try is Underwood's Chicken spread. It's soft, it's protein. And, I think it taste pretty good too.
Hope this rids your of your anxiety! No one would force me to eat that stuff either!!
GOOD LUCK!
Val
I didn't eat baby food meat, but I did eat blended meat with my own spices and flavoring. My mom made roast with potatoes and carrots in a fat free gravy then put some in a blender for me, it was this orangeish mush but it tasted GREAT!!! We did the same with a chicken broccoli casserole, which turned into this nasty baby poop green color when blended, but again the taste was delicious...just had to close my eyes. I did buy a bunch of baby food fruits but only ate 1 jar then gave the rest to my baby nephew, apple sauce, mashed bananas and bleneded pineapple with cottage cheese were great.
Best wishes,
Sarah Margaret
