I am curious as to wether our regular meds can still be absorbed properly since surgery. I'm talking about birth control, and my migraine meds. I had RNY in Jan. and have since had two rather severe migrains(i have had them since i was 3). MY prescription meds for migraines didn't seem to work. Then i hear that our BCP are not absorbed properly? My surgeon never mentioned either of these, as being a problem. Any suggestions? i was taking Relpax for migraines. Is it maybe not absorbed if it's a coated pill? Thanks for your time

Stacie, There isn't any concrete data on this, but some surgeons recommend to crush OCP's or use a patch. Rather than give you an erroneous answer, I would recommend you ask your OB/GYN about it. Dr. C The Deaconess Surgical Weight Loss Center Cincinnati, Ohio (513) 559-2545
