Well I am in the final stages of waiting for my approval from the insurance. In the meantime, what kind of protein drinks do you post-ops recommend? I have been drinking Glucerna, but it does not have whey protein. My last weigh in was Tuesday with my PCP. Now I am waiting for him to send the paperwork to OSU, so that OSU can send it on to my insurance for approval. I hope that the next time I post.. I can say I have a date! Thank you for your input. Hugs Julie

Hi Julie, I am only on my third day of my pureed diet, but I am really enjoying the "Any Whey" Protein. It is unflavored and I mix it with everything, even my blended soup. I can't even tell it is in there. Also I make shakes, using one scoop of the protein, cottage cheese, skim milk and whatever flavor of Davinci sugar free syrup I am in the mood for. If I use the strawberry syrup, it tastes just like strawberry cheesecake. I also have the Fuzzy Navel Nectar. It is a bit too peachy for me, so when I make it, I add a tub of sugar free Tang. I make a pitcher full of that using three scoops of the Nectar and the Tang and it contains a whopping 69 grams of protein, and I sip on it throughout the day. Both the Any Whey and the Nectar completely dissolve and are not gritty. I wish you the very best on getting your approval, it sounds like you are doing what they want. I hope you get a date soon. Good Luck! Mary

HI I AM THREE MONTHS OUT.... I LIKE THE CONVIENCE OF THE READY TO GO SHAKES... THEY ARE NOT ALWAYS THE BEST TASTING... BUT I TOLERATE THE ADVANTAGE STRAWBERRY SUPREME GOOD.... THAT WAY I CAN GRAB ONE AND GO OFF TO WORK IN THE MORNING... OR IF I DON'T HAVE TIME FOR LUNCH AT WORK I CAN DRINK ONE AT MY DESK... EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT.... AND THINGS YOU LIKE NOW YOU MIGHT NOT LIKE LATER... GOOD LUCK... HOPE YOU GET YOUR DATE SOON!! BONBON

Hi Julie, haven't heard from you for awhile, I hope your approval is soon. I really like zero carb isopure from gnc. It is ready to drink and has 40grams of protein in it, plus 20oz. of our fluid requirements. Before surgery and a couple months after I liked Matrix but can not handle any of the powder mixes now. Good luck on your journey.

Hey there Julie, I drink the zero carb isopure too. I like grape frost, the blue kind and the green kind Yum (sorry can't remember the names of the last 2 kinds). I was using American whey for my shakes and I liked it a lot, but recently my tummy has decided it doesn't like shakes anymore. I do however, use skim milk with some fruit blended up in it to get some protien. If you add nonfat dry milk to skim milk it boosts the protien. Some programs do not allow milk, though, but my surgeons office does. I ordered some samples of the matrix 5.0 chocolate from Bariatric eating and it is pretty good too. It mixes up smooth and makes wonderful hot cocoa. --Jaimee
