OT - FUN LITTLE POLL
Just sitting here on a beautiful Saturday thinking back to when I lived with Mom and Dad. Do you know, of course you don't, duhhh, I was married for about 5 years before I figured out you could have turkey, dressing and the works, pumpkin pie, yummie, ANY time of the year and not just for Thanksgiving?!?!?! I still can not have anything but turkey for Thanksgiving. Have tried a baked ham, just wasn't Thanksgiving. I'm just wondering what went on in your childhood home that you still do, or don't do or figured out later, "well shucks, I could have been doing this all these years but never thought of it!!!" My Mom use to put our sunglasses away with the summer swim suits, it was only during driving to work one day (I was 17) in the snowy Ohio winter, that I figured out that the sunglasses would help with the glare. Now, is that wild or what? Dumb, I know, I hear you!!!! But really, what did your Mom do that later in life you figured out could work differently? Common, let me know!!! Hope you are having a wonderful, sunny day. God bless you all and take care. Hugs, Susie
Susie,
Yes this is hilarious but my Mom thought it was awful to wear sunglasses anytime other than during the heat of summer. She'd say, "Don't be so lazy, stop trying to be so hollywood - grow up, just squint a little!" Of course, that was back before they decided sunlight was so "deadly," we grew up basking in the sun every chance we got!

My dad made up stupid names for food...he is a big goofball. Well, he always called this one side dish hog rotten potatos. I was about 14 when I realized they were augratin. I felt really stupid. The other thing was, when I was growing up we were never allowed to let the dishwasher go thru the dry cycle as it "wasted too much electricity." I have since realized that a)it doesn't use that much electric and b)after letting it run thru the dry cycle I don't have to use two dish towels drying every damn di****hought that maybe the dishwashers of the 70's probably just weren't as efficient as todays-but mom and dad still don't let the diswasher run thru drying. Oh well..
