Let me preface this...I am under a doctors care, have been for a while, but we have not found any answers as of yet and new symptoms keep popping up. I'm not seeking medical advice, just looking to see if anyone has experience the same symptoms and can give me some perspective as to what direction I should ask my doctors to look into. I had a DVT (blood clot in my left leg) last September. (I've been on Coumadin since) In October my then PCP heard a slight irregular beat (like a gallup) in my heart. He mentioned it might be a bundle branch blockage (which is electical). I never saw him again due to insuracnce, but his echo report said I had mild stenosis of a valve. In November I had an episode of numbness on the left side of my face and as the day progressed it spread down my left arm. (only lasted for that day) Also, in November I started noticing that I was flipping numbers when writing and dialing the phone. I also forgot the long distance code one day. In mid-January I had numbness and tingling in my right hand and it moved up the arm. My right hand was noticably colder and purple compared to my left. (once again it only lasted a day) My PCP ordered a Cat Scan and a tiny infarct was detected in the right side, but it's location would not have caused any of the symptoms I had experienced. (I've seen a neurologist and in the process of several tests) The lastest was this past week, my heart was racing and my heartrate was 150. The EKG (which was done later when my heart was normal), showed a slight abnormality in one of the leads. But the doctor said they usually don't worry if it's only 1 lead. But they do want me to see a cardiologist. The last time I worked out my chest got tight with mild pain only 7 minutes into the workout. This weekend I get lightheaded and short of breath with even slight activity. Doing laundry really wore me out. Just now I was mixing brownie batter by hand and felt my heartrate increase and had to get to the couch quickly to rest. I also have night sweats and both my pjs and sheets are all cotton. But I wake up with my hair damp, my nightgown and sheets wet. Some of the symptoms are similar to if I had a blood clot somewhere, but I am theraputic on coumadin (15mg a day), but I am trying to find what the chances are of a clot developing while on coumadin. All my tests for a clotting disorder of my blood have been negative. But I wonder if a circulatory problem could still cause a clot to develop. My blood pressure and sleep apnea have been resolved since April and June of last year. Any thoughts, suggestions, concerns???

Sarah, This is WAY too complicated to figure out over the net. The only input I might have is that yes, you can definitely develop a blood clot while on coumadin, even if your levels are therapeutic. Good luck getting this figured out, C

Thanks, that is want I really wondered about. Everything I find just says it reduces the risk, but I couldn't find any articles that said what the chance of recurrence was while on it, most things just talk about after therapy is stopped. I'll be in contact with my doctors again today. Thanks again, Sarah
