Hey there everybody!! First time posting! I just had WLS on Monday, and am doing very well. Had the Rouen Y (sp?) and am downa bout 25 pounds since Monday!!! How crazy is that!! My dumb question is, it seems like i cant tell if ive had enough fluids? I take sips, and i hit my 64 oz goal, but it seems sometimes i may be drinking too much?? Hopefully not, but if i would do that, what are the signs?? Im just curious, because I start Full Liquids tomorrow, maybe it will be easier to do at that time. Thanks

Hi Justin, Congrads on your surgery. Glad to hear that you have been doing so well. I am a month post op and I can only take a few sips of anything liquid and I get an awful pain on my left side that goes up into my chest. If you start to retain water in your hands and ankles you will know for sure if you are getting too much. As for me I don't get enough and that is one of my major problems. Always check with your surgeon or pcp and ask them if you are overy concerned. Take care and God Bless.

Congrats on your surgery.I cant answer your? But i see you went to Barix I was there on your surgery day for my preop testing. I have Dr. Barbara surgery March 8. How was your experience there? Seems like a great place.

Welcome Justin!!! First of all you should always follow your doctor or nutritionist advice. But I was told that you should try for at least 80 oz of water a day. You should not gulp it but sip sip sip and space it out so that you are not drinking right before meals or after and DO NOT DRINK DURING MEALS. I hope you get a real answer to your question. Goodluck in your journey!! Cheryl

I am still preop and trying to get all the information I can prior to surgery. I have problems retaining fluid because of the cardiomyopathy. Will I be more prone to edema after my surgery. I am on fluid restrictions, and lasix now and still have problems with swelling. Thanks for listening, Laura
