Does anyone know of a WLS-friendly PCP in the Columbus area? I'm especially looking for someone with some knowledge of thyroid conditions - I'm mildly hypothyroid, and was started on thyroid meds as part of my pre-surgery checkup by my surgeon. I feel healthier and more full of energy than ever, so I really want to find someone who will monitor and continue these meds long-term. I didn't need a PCP letter to get my WLS approved, so I haven't had a regular doctor since mine moved practices. It's time to find someone I trust, though! Thanks in advance for any recommendations!

Hey Jennifer, I can recommend my PCP she's awesome, but....she's in Grove City! Yikes! I mean, it isn't super far away but it's a little drive. Her name is Julianne Huefner at Grove City Internal Medicine. 614-293-2281. You can tell them I referred you if you like. I can see if anyone I work with knows of a good doc in the Westerville area. I do work for OSU, so the docs I know are OSU affiliated. Does your insurance include OSU in it's provider network? Good luck. You definately need a good doc to follow you, especially since you need to be monitored with your thyroid. Good luck! Valerie

Thank you so much, Valerie! If I can't find someone a little closer to home, I wouldn't mind driving to Grove City - I'm definitely filing your doctor's name away for future reference. You know how valuable a good PCP is, so I'm definitely willing to drive if I have to! Small world, I knew that you worked for OSU hospitals. I have a graduate fellowship at The James. I work in program development, though, so I'm not familiar with any doctors in the network. My insurance is through my husband's work, and it's United Healthcare. But I think it covers OSU docs, so let me know if you hear of anyone good! Thanks again for the reply - I love reading your posts, because you are such an inspiration. Enjoy your Sunday!

Hi! I have also gotten a recommendation from one of my coworkers that lives in Westerville. Hey, the more names you have the more you can be choosey about right? His name is B.J. Rangi, his number is 882-2397. I really trust my coworkers opinion, so I feel very comfortable in recommending him even though I have never met him. And, Thank you so much for your kind words. I just really try to help out as best I can. It is a lifelong journey and we need all the positive support we can get! BTW Sunday was great! I had and AWESOME workout, enjoyed time with my hubby and kids. What more can you ask for? Good luck! Valerie

Jeff Moledor. He's off of Bethel Road, on Crown Park. He's been my family doctor for about 10 years and was very supportive of my decision to pursue WLS last year. And he surely was test too, once he saw all the paperwork he ended up needing to fill out! Post-surgery, he's been great too. The last two times I've been in, he asked me to help educate the med students that are shadowing him about wls (I would say it was as close to bragging on his part!) He's kind of got a bit of curmudgeon (sp?) in him, but he's seen me through several big health issues and I think he's wonderful.

I can recommend Dr. Nancy Graesser out on Rt.256 just past that ____ Walmart store. She is great and being a D.O. may understand the thyroid thing more. It is called Eastside Family Practice if you are interested. Good luck, Darla

I can recommend Cathy Griewe. She's on Cleveland Avenue just south of 161. She's been my PCP for years and has other WLS patients. She's very thorough. Their number is 898-5690.
