Self Pay Question Mexico
Hi you guys, I am going to fight my insurance company to the bitter end but I have heard from a doctor that this company really doesn't budge and will NOT PAY FOR ANY WEIGHT SURGERY's NO MATTER WHAT THE SITuation. Therefore, I am exploring the option of self pay. I have heard a lot about Dr.Alexjandro from New Mexico and the services down there. I have heard that it is 8900 for everything. Does anyone know about this dr or this hospital? I am less concerned with it being out of the states because I really don't trust doctors hear anymore than I do doctors anywhere else. And my insurance won't pay for the surgery but the sick thing is that they will pay for any complications that may arise due to the surgery. But I was just wondering if anyone has heard about him and the hospital.

Ronda,
Here's my 2 cents about Mexico...
The surgeons there are very good at doing these operations. However, with any type of weight loss surgery, the operation itself is just the tip of the proverbial iceberg.
It has been proven in study after study that your long term results are dependant largely on how good your follow up is. If you have surgery in Mexico, you have no follow up.
Many people think that if they can just get the operation, all will be well. This is far from the truth, in my opinion.

hello ronda did you mean mexico although you wrote new mexico in your post i am not certain that i have heard of him or maybe it is the way you spelled his name. I do know that mexico is where some of us have to get sent due to the high price of the us surgeons/hospitals there are some reputable doctors in mexico i would suggest that you call inamed and get as much info as you can and also try to located a number on him and call his office and talk with someone just do alot of research.as far as after care talk with a local doctors office and set up post op care before you have the operation as matter of fact try to lock down more than one doctor just in case on flakes.i also would suggest that you join as many weight loss surgery boards as possible and do a post search and also post your concerns there are a few mexico wls boards. hope any of this helps.
Funny thing happened last night to emphasize the point...I got a call from a lady at 2am, she had a band put in I'm presuming in Mexico. She was too tight and couldn't swallow and wanted to know what I could do to help her (let me stress that it's 2am).
Sort of like calling up Emeril and saying "We're bringing in some food from Wolfgang Puck's place, but we'll let you clean up the mess after."
You only have one life, some things just aren't worth it over saving some bucks...
