Appeal denied by MMOH...Attorney?
Hi Kelly,
Let's get out of this boat we're in!! LOL!
Thanks for the link. I filed a complaint. I hope this gets the ball rolling. My friend that came with me to all my appointments, ended up doing a self-pay in June, and she's now down 96 lbs! I'm so happy for her and want to experience that, too!
Keep me posted on your progress, and Good Luck!
Pam
In the same boat!
I guess we are all in kind of the same boat. I have BCBS of SC and they have decided as of Jan 1,05 to exclude wls from the policy. Naturally I had one road block after another last yr so that I could not get it done before the end of the yr when they stopped covering the surgery. I have copied all of these responses and am going to check this out. If anyone has any other sugestions I would love an [email protected] Thank goodness for this website.

Oh Sheila!
That's awful! Surely that can be fought, especially since you already had the ball rolling before they dropped the coverage. I really hope you get someone to fight this for you. So far, I haven't heard back from Gary Viscio, but it is, after all, the weekend...LOL! I guess he can take two days off each week!
I was afraid that's what was going to happen last year with MMOH, then we got a letter in June stating they WERE dropping the coverage on our particular plan, but they were also dropping the whole plan, so when they switched my husband's company to a new plan, WLS was still covered but it now has a $10K cap.
My big beef is that ALL my doctors say I'm a definite candidate for the surgery, but the darn ins company can't see that for anything! To them, I'm a whining obese woman who hasn't had a BMI over 40 nearly long enough. I haven't been obese long enough...let's wait til I develop more co-morbidities...grrrrrr, it makes me sick!
Keep me posted on how you do fighting your ins battle!
Pam
My daughter had a big fight with her insurance too. She had the BMI but not the co-morbities and she finally won so dont give up. I sent a complaint to the Ohio Insurance Dept but I am afraid that they will not be able to do anything cause my insurance co is out of SC but it is worth a try and this week I hope to call that attorney.
