4 mths Post-op - anyone have trouble with lightheadedness?
Hello everyone!
I've been having trouble with getting lightheaded - and I mean black out for a split second kind of lightheaded. Anyone else experience this? If so, did you find out what was causing it?
I've changed protein powders and am wondering if this could be the cause. It was mentioned to me that maybe I'm either taking in too much sugar or not enough - I watch my sugars pretty closely, so not real confident that this is the problem.
I see the dr. for my next check-up on Monday, but thought I would get some "feelers" out there from those who have also experienced it.
Thanks much!
How many calories are you getting in a day? It may not be just a sugar intake issue but what your sugar levels are doing between meals. How often do you eat? You should be getting something in about every three hours. How about fluids? Are you getting enough of those in?
Sounds like you might not be getting enough calories in. It could also be anemia or low potassium or a number of things combined. Your physician needs to know this so they can sort out what the problems are. Are you taking a prenatal or multivitamin?
If it gets worse, I would call your MD and see if they want you in sooner. Sit down and evaluate what you are getting in. You might be suprised. This isn't something to just blow off, take it seriously. I would hate for you to be driving and have this happen to you!
Not trying to invoke panic or anything, but something is off kilter a little and you need to get it fixed.
Let us know how things go at the Docs office! Take care!

Hi Wendy,
I am 7 months out and was having the same problem. Are you taking BP meds? If so, they may be the culprit. As you lose weight your body adjusts accordingly and you have to adjust the dosage. I am totally off BP meds now and feel wonderful. I still get dizzy occassionally, but my PCP told me it is from my body adjusting to my new weight and eating habits...Just a thought...be sure to mention it to you doctor. My hubby was having the same problem (without WLS, he is dieting it away..lol)..and the PCP noticed his BP was running low and adjusted his meds accordingly also and he is fine now.....Just a thought......Good Luck...Patty
Hi Patty.
Congrats on being 7 months out - doesn't it just feel wonderful?!?!?!
As a matter of fact, I do take BP meds - however, it isn't for my blood pressure. I have a kidney disease (called Thin Basement Membrane Disease) where the lower membranes of my kidneys have thinned out from when I DID have high blood pressure and it allows the "good" proteins to pass through. I have talked to my kidney dr. about going off of it completely, but because it is for my disease, he is reluctant to do so - there is no cure for the disease, so I just have to keep it under control. But, I go see my surgeon today and will talk to her about it.
Thank you SO much for responding - this was good information to take to the dr.!
Take care.
