I am in the process of looking for a surgeon. I am self pay so I have to watch the price. Does anyone know anything about a Dr. Clarey. She is in with a Dr. Bruce. I went to the information session. I would love any advice. I couldn't afford the wish center. Thanks

Have you thought about The UC Center for Surgical Weight Loss. THey are located in West Chester Oh. Bothe Dr. Selwyn and Dr Gersin are very skilled surgeons. I think they work with you on the finances if you are self-pay. Dr Selwyn posts on this board frequently. Just a thought Sherri

I am having my surgery next Friday with Dr. Clarey. I don't know how the pay goes I have medicare. Since I didn't have a secondary insurance I had to pay $313.00 that's all.

I have a friend that went to Dr. Clarey 5-6 years ago and has done fine. Personally I was self pay and went to Dr. Fallang in Dayton and loved him. His self pay for open (only a 3-4" incision) is $17,000 and for lap rny its $21 I think. He was the cheapest and closest with the smallest incision that I found. good luck to you. Bev

Bev, this reply doesn't have anything to do with Dr. clarey, but noticed that you went to Dr. Fallang. How long ago was your surgery. He did mine on Feb 7th and I am feeling great! Just wanted to say hi and see where you are at in your journey. I go for my two week check-up on Tuesday. chris

Go to www.weightlossalternatives.com there is all the info you should need on Dr. Clarey and Dr. Bruce. I had them in Sept. and they were just excellent. Good Luck! Doreen

Hi Rogenia. Dr. Clarey did my surgery on October 27th, 2004 and I have not had any problems - as of last Thursday, I am down 71 lbs. As was mentioned in another reply, you can go to www.weightlossalternatives.com and it gives you a list of support group meetings and I believe it also has an email address where you can ask questions. If my memory is correct, if you are self-pay, I believe they want a good portion up front, but I'm not 100% sure. I had insurance, but I remember there was some paperwork on self-pay. Best of luck!
