What are you looking forward to?
I am trying to keep up my spirits by thinking of things I am looking forward to, post WLS. Here goes...
I am looking forward to jeans without elastic in the waist.
I am looking forward to knee high boots.
I am looking forward to learning how to rollerblade.
I am looking forward to selling my CPAP machine to someone else...heehee.
I am looking forward to walking with my head up, instead of looking at the ground...
Have a wonderful day!
I am looking forward too...
- not having socks cut in to my ankles
- to be able to bend down and tie my shoes without feeling like my head is going to explode from lack of oxygen
- to be able to get off of the floor without having to get on my hands and knees, catch my breath, haul my booty up into the air, and then push the rest of myself up.
- sit indian style! When was the last time we did that???
- to be able to fit and ride on a rollarcoaster without worrying that I may cause too much stress to the struts
- to be able to shop with my daughters for more than one hour. I'm talking a shopping EXCURSION!!!!
- I have a brand new yard that I desperately want to work my magic on. Landscape, landscape, landscape.
- Oh yeah, I want to be able to dance, shake my booty w/o causing myself serious injury
- this is just to name a few.
*Cross my legs like a real lady
*Wear panties that don't have to be waist high (anything lower than waist high has my jelly roll over the top!)
*tuck my shirt in and wear a belted pant
*wear shorts again
*see my cheek and collar bones
*wear high heels without feeling like a balancing elephant on a tricycle
*walk with pantihose and not hear the swosh swosh sound
*walk through small spaces that my co-workers walk straight through and I have to suck in my gut and squeeze through sideways
*sit on an airplane in coach and not have the seatbelt digging into my gut (too embarassed to ask for the seatbelt extension)
*enter the true weight on my driver's license
*clean my whole house without having to stop to rest my back
*run and play with my kids outside

I'm looking forward to no more back pain and knee pain.
I'm looking forward to sleeping all night without rolling onto the floor beause my back hurts so much.
I'm looking forward to walking around super walmart and not needing the cart to brace myself.
I'm looking forward to not feeling embarrased because I wear the same old ruddy elestic pants or jeans with the inside thigh parts all rubbed out....LOL with those little tiny beads on them..LOL
I'm looking forward to not having to sit all the time or when I get up I dont feel like my back is broke....
Seeing my four year old dance at his wedding
Seeing my seventeen year old daughter become a mom
Chasing my grandkids around the soccer field
Running a half marathon this October
Traveling with my husband when we retire
Looking fat people in the eye when I'm thin - I won't be one of those thin people who find fat people invisible
Some favorites that have already happened in the 9 months since I started this work:
-Buying my first pair of jeans without elastic
-Buying my first piece of "regular sized" clothing EVER (last month - I cried in the communal dressing room at Century 21 in New York)
-No seatbelt extender on the plane
-The unbearable lightness of being - feeling like I'm floating when I walk through the world, gravity lightened
- Missing exercise and feeling bummed
and, best...
Freedom from compulsive eating. I thought this would make me obsess about food again after 10 years of abstinence from obsessive eating, but in fact, the only thinking I do about food is how much protein I"ve had, how much water I've gotten and if what I'm putting in my mouth will bring my body back to health.
What a gift, for so small a price.
