FRUSTRATED W/ OSU

Oh I am sure that there are many doctors that are qualified. The main problem was that they were getting poor evaluations, and it is really a lot of red tape to establish contracts when you are a state funded institution. It gets very complicated. So, the best solution all the way around was to contract with Dr. Kramer. It provides continuity of care for the patients as well. He can establish a relationship so that if you do have problems later on, he can help you and your new MD work through them. Well, we never know what the future holds, but for right now that is the plan that's in place. I am sure that there is a contingent plan in place. I understand your frustration, believe me. What made it hard for me is I work there for cryin' out loud!!! My husband and I both went through the ringer, but Shannon has to work with what OSU gives her to work with too. She is a great program director, and she is working very hard to streamline the process as best as she can while making it a safe and successful program. Believe me I understand about the money. I really really do. I have two teenage daughters at home that are sucking the bank account dry!! I just went to the dentist for my "Consult" appt where they drop the bomb on you about how much all the work is going to cost....Ok, after they brought me back to consciousness, I realized that I will just have to put some pennies aside here and there to get it done. So, I know the pain you are feeling in you wallet. I hope there is a way you can work it out. OSU is a great program. Insurance companies suck. So, we just do the best we can huh? Take care, hang in there, and you things will work out the way they are meant to be. Valerie

Valerie, I want to thank you for all your advice. You know when I first wrote my post I was really upset....I had just found all of this out....I was frustrated, its just somewhat discouraging at times going thru this whole process, I guess I'm not very patient and I do easily get discouraged. I actually feel bad now that I wrote that on here, I don't want to scare people away from OSU at all!! I loved all the people at The living well center and Shannon is just wonderful.......taking every call and taking the time to answer your questions.....I guess I just wanted to see everyone elses experience. you know its funny, I got alot of private emails from people, that didn't want to post their comments on the message boards, several saying that less then 6 months ago they were allowed to go to a different psych doctor because of having Aetna and Anthem(I'm sure that was the other insurance Dr. Kramer don't except) I guess that is whats sooo upsetting to me. I have however deside to stick with OSU, now that I've thought about it and because of already starting the process there. I think the day I wrote that I was just having a bad day, I'm sure it didn't help it was the first day of my period!!LOL! I'm going to try to reschedule Dr. Kramer for another week out and keep my Dietian appointment for Thursday, that way that will be the week my hubby gets paid I know what you mean about kids.....my hubby and I have 6 together, ranging from 2 years old to 12 years old......ALL BOYS!! If I could only take one of the child support payments we make every paycheck to hubbys ex and pay Dr. Kramer, I would be set(and very happy)....but don't think hubbys ex would be too happy!!LOL! Anyway thanks again for everything!! Tabitha

Tabitha, You are more than welcome my friend! I knew you were frustrated, and believe me, I let it roll around in my head a couple of days before I actually posted. Don't apologize, you needed to vent, and that's what this place is for. This is how we work out our problems together. My boss always says "It takes a village", and I believe that. Sometimes when we are angry and frustrated we need to put it out there. Let it jingle around in space, and see what our peers have to say about it. Then, sit back and look at the big picture. I tend to get impatient easy too, but I am learning. I have all these little mantras for different occasions and I have one for this. My husband told me about, and it is from Anthony Robbins. "Delay of instant gratification". We are in a lifetime that has gotten used to instant gratification. Those things that we wait for and work for are the ones that mean the most to us. And hard as that is sometimes, it always proves right. So, take it from me...I am learning to be patient too! Yeah, being a hormonal woman doesn't help either. we just get out of our heads during that time don't we? Be lucky you have boys... We are drowing in the sea of estrogen over here!!! I am glad you are going to stay with us. The Dr. Kramer thing was a very recent change, but one that was necessary. So, I am sure there are a lot of people who did things differently. Change can be painful, but a necessity for improvement. Take care, and keep posting and let us know how the process is going! I wish you all the best in the world! Val
