I got a date!
Today I got the call I've been waiting for. I got a date for wls. It's Feb 23, which just happens to be my 31st birthday. As soon as I got off the phone with Robin the scheduler, I started throwing up and have been sick at my stomach ever since. Is this normal? My mom says it's just an emotional overload but I'm now so afraid that something will go wrong at my PAT's (which just happens to be valentine's day) and I'll get a let down. How am I supposed to sleep for the next 2 weeks!!
Any advise or comments are welcome!

Tameka, I'm so excited for you! You're becoming a "loser" exactly one week after me. And if your PATs were one day later, you'd be there on my surgery day!
I personally think it's a big omen to have the surgery on your birthday. I was approved on my birthday, if you remember. I always felt like that was just a little sign that I'm making the right decision. You should feel the same way!
About PATs, I have to say that I really enjoyed mine - which is sort of strange, because medical testing isn't exactly supposed to be fun. I felt like the whole team was so supportive. Everyone was nice, everyone was positive. And passing the screening tests really made me feel like I was going to come through this just fine. I wrote a pretty long update about my PAT day in my livejournal, so read that if you want to know what happens when you're there. Overall, I have to say that going through that experience made me even MORE confident that this surgery is the right choice.
Although they'll have you doing all kinds of things to get ready! I'm having protein supplements three times a day, using listerine and a nasal spray twice a day, and taking several new prescriptions. I also had a cold that day, and the internal medicine doctor medicated that so I'll be ready to go on the 15th.
Just stay calm and enjoy the ride as much as you can - good luck with your testing!
Tameka,
That's great news that you finally have a date. It is normal to get a biit wound up when it is coming down to the wire. I sure did! Try to relax, take a deep breath and don't get yourself too stressed out over everything. I know it is hard to keep those butterflies at bay, but try to if you can because it will be better for you in the long run. Look for other things to focus on. Use the time you have leading up to surgery day to do more research on post-op lifestyle, maybe write some of your goals down in a journal (make sure to get pre-op measurements and a picture to have for later) and get your house in order so you don't have to worry about it afterwards. Save all that stress energy for healing! Be good to yourself! Congratulations on having a date for the new you!
Hugs and prayers,
Jaimee
Well, first I've gotta say thanks for all the words of encouragement and I'm trying to keep calm about all of this but it's just not working very well. I can't believe it's almost my turn! The next 15 days are surely going to be rough but at last there is a light at the end of my tunnel.
Thanks guys!
Temeka

Hi I am new to this and need some support. I am having my surgery done 25th of this month. I am also having it done in Dayton. The closer the date gets the more nervous I am becoming. I've comp;eted all the necessary tests, paperwork, and tomorrow I and my sister who is also having the surgery the same day are driving to Dayton for our pre-admission testing. Whew!! I am getting nervous. I stopped smoking a few weeks ago and now I wish I had a cigarette because I am so nervous. Any advice?????
