I am trying to get WLS and having no luck. I am tired of being told "no" every step of the way. Unfortunately I am not that old and I weigh 515. My height is 5'10. Anyone have any suggestions? I have Paramount Elite and also Medicare, pts A&B. Now another problem has surfaced. My car died. I have a 1987 Old 98, 2d, and it quit working. The mechanic said it is not worth fixing. Based on infomration I got from one of the other boards here, I've tried vans, cars, and they are all too tight. I am very depressed as you can imagine. At lease when I had wheels I was not a prisoner in my home. My dad is driving my around in his PT Cruiser and I fit all right in the passenger side. Anyone who has any ideas or might want to chat, please e-mail me. Also, is WLS being preformed in Toledo? Thanks!
Hi Mark,
Sounds like you are having a stroke of bad luck. I have not idea about the vehicle. I wish I could help there. As far as your surgery...call both insurance companies and see if they cover the surgery and find out what there qualifications are to be aproved. Talk to you PCP and let him/her know that you want this surgury and what the insurace companies require. Don't give up on the surgery. If you want to talk or chat jsut email me.

I have lost 100 pounds and am so glad every day I made the decision to have this surgery and did not give up.
I would do it all over again.

Hi Mark, Wow, I agree you are having some really bad luck. I do not know if I can help either but wanted to say that I am here to listen. I had my surgery done in Ypsilanti, MI. at the Barix Clinic. It was about a 45 minute drive from Toledo. I was very happy with the results. It would be a smart thing for you to call your insurance company. I went through my pcp to help me get the paper work done. Best of luck to you. If I can help please feel free to email me. I also belong to a support group here in Toledo. We would love to have you attend. Many of us have struggled just like you and know what you are going throug. We will be meeting Monday, at St. Charles Hospital at 7:00. If you can make it that would be great for you and for us. Good luck, Deb
If you have medicare then go to the site palmettogba.com and in the search window on the right hand side type morbid obesity and hit search, click on the link that says: Bariatric Surgery - Final - LCDs - Part B OHIO/West Virginia - PalmettoGBA.com you will get to the local medical review policy for the state of Ohio and if you read it carefully you will see the requirements for the surgery through medicare. If you have any more questions you can call 1-800-633-4227 and choose the option for doctor services for Ohio. They might be able to answer some questions also. Good Luck! If you cant find it e-mail me at [email protected]
Hello,
I understand completely! I drove a Olds Sillouette Mini Van at 626 so you might try that. Also, you might try the older model Quest and Villager minivans.
Based on your body-type you may have to get fully positional seats so you can push seat way back and tilt the backrest. I know this is uncomfortable but, you have to just sit and try what is available. I went through this a few years back I went to a car lot and tried everything. I didn't find anything that would work that was new. You can also try a full size pickup truck as they have great leg room.
I hope this helps some.
