sad
Hey gang although I dont post often I need some encouragement I recently found a doctor that really liked went to the seminar and even had a one on one consultation with him. I sent off for my medical records and had my psych evaluation done which are all requirements of my insurance company. These things were going to get the ball rolling for my approval well I get a call that tells me this doctor is out of network because he has moved practices and has to get re-certified with his new practice and they tell me that could take up to 6 months or more to happen. So here I am back at square one having to start all over again I was looking so forward to my new life which now is going to take a little longer than I expected. I have found a new doctor which I like him as well but it seems like this particular group of doctors want so darn much information provided. I know the end results are worth every bit of this struggle but what do you do when you want to give up??? Thanks for letting me vent.
Hello,
First take a couple of deap breaths....I have walked in your shoes. I know the frustrations. I was having the same problem when I started last year in June. The doctor I wanted Cigna said was out of network. But I really bonded and trusted the surgeon. So I decided that when we had open enrollment at work I would change to UHC. (We have both at work) Then I decided, because most insurance companies require a supervised diet with a PCP, I would use this time to do that. I found out in about Oct that my company was no longer going to have Cigna effective Jan 1st. Everything worked out great. I have the supervised dieting. Lost 25 lbs on my own, and the best part is that On Monday of this week, the doctors office was able to go ahead and send for approval. The office called and made sure what the requirments were and I have covered everything in the time I was waiting for my new insurance to kick in. Now I just have to wait for the date. I am lucky with UHC you find out in about 2 weeks. I hope this has helped you. Please dont give up. 6 months is worth the wait if you really like the doctor. I come on the board regularly and read a lot of post. That would help me. When you read how long people wait. Just stay focused on your goal.
Best of Luck
Lisa
Have you contacted your insurance to see just who is in your network? You could then look them up on this website to see if there are any really good or bad comments about them available. I have seen a lot of favorable reports on Dr. Trace Curry in your area but whether he is in your network is the question. Good luck and God Bless, Darla
Felicia,
When I first started out last winter, I had a similar situation. I felt I wasted about 6 months which was really frustrating. I ended up going to Dr. Curry in Cincinnati (about a 2 hour drive for me) and it all worked out. I had surgery 10/11/04 and am feeling so much better.
Hang in there-it will work out for you. As someone else suggested, if in network, check out Dr. Curry-he's great!

Thanks to everyones responses that was the encouragement I needed to just not give up actually the doctor I wanted was doctor Curry he is covered by my insurance at his practice in greenville oh but since moving to deconness hospital he is not covered there yet. I have researched a couple other doctors and I'm now considering Dr Gersin and Dr Selwyn and this is the group that I felt has alot of requirements to meet but I will stay focused and determined and try not to let anything deter me from my goal.
