Looking for Prayers & Positive Energy sent my way!!!
I just spoke to my insurance company, Medical Mutual of Ohio (SuperMed Plus), and they told me to call back on Thursday regarding my determination. The representative said that a decision should be made any day now.... and, I am so nervous. I want gastric bypass so bad, but, realize a lot of people get turned down the first time by Medical Mutual. I have no quality of life. My doctor wrote a letter stating all of my co-morbidities to include the beginning phases of right-sided congestive heart failure, severe sleep apnea, asthma, COPD, osteoarthritis, etc. My depression has gotten a whole lot worst while in this state of "limbo", that I can hardly stand it. I just want my life back and can't believe that an insurance company has so much "power".
At any rate, I fully believe in the power of prayer and am hoping to get lots of prayers and positive energy sent my way....
I appreciate everyone's support!!!
Karen
Wow!!! That's great news... thanks! I have read so many negative comments recently about MMO, that it's had me pretty well down in the dumps as to the outlook of their determination.
Thanks for your reply.... you have given me new hope. And, I sincerely appreciate your positive thoughts....
Please take care,
Karen
You got mine!! Hang in there! I believe in prayer too.
Don't get me started on insurance companies...aaarrrggghhh I think they have too much power and the power lies in the hands of people who more often than not have minimal if any medical background.
Now THATS scary.
Turn it over and try to relax. I know how you are feeling, I truly do. I wonder how I made it without pulling my hair out!
Take care!
BIG HUG!!
Valerie
Thanks, Valerie!
I truly appreciate you sharing your thoughts and offering your support. When caught up in the anxiety of things, it's hard to remember to "turn it over"!!! But, reading those words helped put me back in focus.
You are truly an . I see how devoted you are to spending time on this message board and lifting everyone up the best that you can!!!
Thank you, again....
BIG HUG!!!

Karen,
Good luck! I was just turned down by Medical Mutual. I don't have a 5 year weight history with my PCP (or any other doctor). I have a 20 year history with my PCP and we sent in 5 years of weights dating back to 1992......I am appealing right now. I sent pictures of me with my grandkids and even offered to send in a copy of their birth certificates to show the time frame. Can you believe that is the only reason for being turned down? Not because it isn't medically necessary but because of that! Bummer....
My husband said that if I want it that badly that we could self pay if the insurance denies me again. So one way or another I will get it!
I will keep you in my prayers......please do the same for me!
Sue
Aww Thank YOU!!! You are so welcome.
I know in my heart that we were put here to help one another. This is such a life altering thing, and we all need all the positive support we can get!
I know, once in a while, it's just a simple phrase or two that gets our head back in order. That's one of my favorites, I have to tell myself that quite a bit!
You hang in there, and we will all be right here for you! Just be sure to let us all know when you find anything out. Because I am nervous right along with ya!

Thanks, Jackie....
I'm pretty well bummed out at the moment ... I called the insurance company at 2 p.m., earlier today. The Rep. was not very informative about my file. Evidently, there is no determination, yet. She wasn't sure what was going on, other than there was an entry on the 11th that said something to the effect that they were sending my file on to Dr. who specializes in bariatric surgery to review my file because I had no documentation that I have been under my PCP's care for 6 month's while doing a doctor supervised weight loss program! They never told me that this was a requirement!!! I'm only hoping, now, that the doctor *****views the file will see all of the attempts that I have made through other programs (which even included a 4 month Fen-Fen routine that was medically supervised by a doctor) and decide in my favor due to medical necessity.
I wonder how I can go on from one day to the next feeling the way I do, and now, there is no end in sight to this whole nerve-wracking process!
I did manage to make an appointment with Dr. Curry.... I think I spoke to a "Leslie" who said thanks for the referral and asked me to say "hi" to you for her...
Thanks, Karen
