I know I for one am having a lengthy time dealing with Ohio medicaid on getting approved for my gastric bypass, another nice lady in Ohio also is going through the same thing as I am. Sooo I am wondering about if anyone else has had an experience with Ohio Medicaid and getting approved for gastric bypass, how long it took, when this was, what all you had to have done, who was your doctor, did they pay for your tummy tuck, anything else relevant... -Tema

Hey have your Dr's office call Medicaid and inquire about your case. Medicaid HAD approved me on April 27, 2004 but my Dr's office did not know that until JULY 29th... God Bless and Good luck!

My surgeons office has been calling and Medicaid first told them (stuff was sent in back in Sept 04) after the first of the year, didn't tell them that until Nov. though, THEN after the first of the year they said anytime between Jan-Mar, then now are saying not until after April... that will be 7 months!!

I have a whole bunch of info on my profile in my dealings with Medicaid and getting approved. My PCP actually got the approval for me and then Dr. Curry in Cincinnati took over and done my surgery. What I've wrote on my profile is my experience and what I had learned in my journey, now I hear that Medicaid doesn't put everyone through the b/s that I went through. Each case is based individually, no set in stone rules apply and all they (medicaid) will tell you on the phone is Yes they will cover the surgery, BUT you have to have medical neccessity. God Bless and Good luck!
