I'm about 6 weeks post-op now and still have a hard time drinking things. But MOSTLY I live on ice, store bought and suck on that all day long. I get nowhere near my 64 oz's a day, 40 oz if it's a good day. Just like healing, drinking and eating don't happen all at once, listen to your body and do the best you can. God Bless

Lisa, I think it is normal to struggle with getting in all those fluids at first. I did, but I'm doing better (still not perfect). Try to find SOMETHING you like to drink, Propel, Crystal Lite, or SF jello, SF popsickles, etc. and alternate them with water, decaffeinated tea, watered-down apple juice - give yourself as much variety as you can and sip-sip-sip! Chipped ice is good too. I thought I would die if I had to drink any more boullion so switched to canned low-salt broth for a few days, it was better. Also, I first kept pouring myself great big glasses to drink, and I think it was psychologically easier to drink lots of small glasses of fluids instead of facing that one gigantic water bottle, at least for me. But now I am using the bigger glasses again since it seems my capacity has increased over time. Take care, dearie! Kitty B. RNY 12/13/04 251 / 231
