Hello everyone!! Been awhile since I've posted. I've been trying to find a place that has water aerobics in the Columbus area. Anyone know a place that is good, and where I can go without being embaressed? Thanks and Happy New Year! Angela

Hi Angela, I would highly recommend the YMCA. I know there are several in the Columbus area. I started going again 2 weeks after my lap band surgery. I am now going 5 times a week. I have very bad knees and this is the only exercise that I can do without being in pain. I'm glad I love the water The people (staff and other members) have always been very nice to me, and made me feel like I belonged !! The members are all ages and sizes. There are never very many if any men in the water classes... not that they can't do them.. they just don't usual sign up for them. The first of the year would be a great time for you to start up since there will be alot of NEW people beginning then also. Good Luck on your "journey" to a healthier YOU!! Cindy

Angela, I have been taking Aqua conditioning at the Y and I really like it. It is a combination of aerobic exercise and strengthening using water weights and stuff. I had to quit because of my surgery, but I plan to start up again. It gives a really good overall workout. The Y usually has high quality instructors and most of the classes are women. Nothing to be uncomfortable about that.

OSU Center for Wellness & Prevention has grea****er aerobics classes too. People of all sizes, quite a few who have had or will have WLS. One of the instructors had WLS herself about 3 years ago, and lost over 300 pounds. She teaches on Saturday mornings. The OSU CWP is on the other side of 315, so you don't have to fight the normal campus traffic/construction stuff you do on the main campus. The classes are free with membership or $10 per class without membership.

I'm a member at Lifetime Fitness and enjoy many group exercise classes. I have been a gym rat for over ten years. They have excellen****er aerobics classes to include hydrocycle (riding a bike in the water). There is no need to embarrassed and I don't believe you will feel uncomfortable at any of the classes. Besides, you're in the water. When I'm not working one of my three jobs, I'm at the gym, so if you would like to go to a class with me, let me know and I'll get you a pass. I'm usually at the gym five to six days a week, so e-mail me if you are interested in setting up a time and then we can talk. Take care, Sheila
