Hi Eric, I am a fairly fresh post-op and there are moments of pain when I regret this and wonder if I will ever be without this pain. I have a very high pain threshold, but this has been harder than I had anticipated. It is getting better, though, and overall I would have to say that, YES, I would do it again. I am down 30 pounds. Been stuck here for a week, but considering I am on ly 3 1/2 weeks out I am pleased with the results so far. This first part post-op is hard. I will not pretend it isn't especially the liquids (My surgeon requires 6 weeks of purely liquid diet) but when I consider that it is 6 weeks vs. the rest of my life, it puts everything into perspective. If you have come to the decision in your heart that this is the right choice for you, then go into it with that attitude. Be prepared to mourn the loss of some of your favorite foods and make a list of things you can do to persevere when you struggle with those old habits. I am confident you will do well if you consider those things ahead of time. A strong support network is vital to your success. Best wishes to you! If you need support, we are all here on the MB ready to give it. Hugs, Jaimee

Eric, This is so normal. Anxiety can be a good thing too, it keeps us alert!! Would I do it again? ABSOLUTELY AND A RESOUNDING YES!!!!!!!! I won't lie, the first couple of weeks were rough. I cried everyday. I had the "shedding" of hair, bad breath, fatigue, etc. But anything worth having is worth sacrificing and working for. I think the goal of posting those things that we have been through has many purposes. One, to share with others so that they may be prepared for what can lie ahead, and two as a way of receiving comfort and support. There isn't anyone else in the world besides your family here that knows exactly what you are going through, before, during and after surgery. Yes, it is a MAJOR life change. And yes, you do feel "normal" again, only with a bonus! Your health is better, your energy levels are awesome and the new self esteem and self confidence, and self love you have is the most precious gift this surgery can give you. It will all be worth it my friend. This surgery affected me so proufoundly that my husband who "SWORE" he would never do it, went and did it too! He has added at least thirty years to his life I know it! His diabetes is under control, his bp's are normal. He used to take handfuls of pills several times a day...he now takes NONE, ZIP, ZILCH, ZERO. So, would we do it again. YES YES YES YES!!! Take care and good luck! Val
