Ive had a long hard road trying to get WLS. I started out with Qualchoice....my company changed insurers...and we went to United Healthcare. I had gotten everything done that I needed to when I was under Qualchoice (EGD, psyc eval, surgery clearance) and was about to submit for approval when we switched to UHC. UHC has a direct exclusion keeping me from WLS. I attempted an approval on a whim...but was of course denied. Now, a month later, I have the opportunity to change to Kaiser. I am doing this of course, as UHC SUCKS! Now, I know that Kaiser will cover the WLS if medically necessary....which will be EASY for me to prove. The thing is, I know that you have to go through 6 months of a nutritionalist before they will. Now I know this is done for a reason....as they wish to make sure its the right decision...but I have been going through this thing for a VERY long time now and this is not a new decision for me or any of my physicians. Does anyone know if the 6 months of Nutritionalist has ever been waived??
