Each doctor is different about what you have to do both pre op diet and post op diet. Your best bet is to call the office and find out what is right for you. Good Luck, Robin W Dr.Hadley 11/17/03 218/115 26-3x/4 petite

Felicia, I did the liquid diet before surgery with Dr. Curry. I guess that they came up with this idea to help shrink the liver, thus making laproscopic surgery easier. If the liver is swollen or in the way....he might have to do a full open procedure on a patient. My husband starts his liquid diet today for surgery Dec. 23. Debra

I met with Dr. Curry on Friday. The main reason he asks his patients to do this is because the liquid diet enables the liver to shink, making the actual procedure of the Gastric Bypass easier. Maneuverability inside when performing the surgery is a lot easier when the liver is smaller.
