Thanks Everyone!!!
Congrats!
I had a decent amount of pain and took pain meds for about 10 days post op. I knew EXACTLY when it was time for meds!! I apparently don't have as high of a threshold as my husband (*****minded me daily after his surgery!) What a turd!
Everybody is different in the pain department. It is normal to be sore after surgery, if you had a lap it is like a controlled stabbing in your abdomen, plus the moving, jerking, relocating, etc. that goes on, it would make sense to be sore. If you had open, well, there you go you have had your gut opened up and layers of tissue cut through, and so on.
Be sure to take your pain meds, hopefully they are working when you do take them, and try to walk around when the kick in. The movement will actually help the healing process, thus helping to diminish the pain.
If it is severe pain, or sudden onset, or pain that isn't being resolved by the meds you need to contact your surgeon asap. That kind of pain can be indicative of something more serious than just post op surgical issues.
Take care, I hope this helps. It will get better!! The first few weeks are the hardest then it gets better and better!
Gentle hugs!
Valerie
