re: Food Sucks
Thanks everyone for the shoulders and suggestions. I suppose I'm just being a whiney, spoiled like brat and need to get over it. (hard when 1 is though) Well that's not true, been more dry heaves than anything - but they can be just as hard on us as the real deal. I did a bad tonight I suppose, got some Wendy's chili and puree'd a bit of it. I needed "flavor" or something closer to the norm. Sat well, will catch he!! for it when I see the dietician I suppose too.
Cathy I do ok with milk also so far, but the S/F F/F CIB I add to it on occasion is that sick sweet too. My tummy is restless this is for sure. I can eat for about 15 min w/ breaks (not getting 2 oz in) w/o problem, IF the food isn't gagging me that is. I'm a week less that you out and Erin told me I HAD to get my protein in and she told you back to fluids? Anyways...
Deb even plain ole water is yuck to me and yanno I like my water.
Ok, unofficially today my mother brought her scale over to my house. She was curious as she said there was such a difference in my hands already. Granted it travelled a mile and is old, but mom said it said what she weighted at the dr's office last time.
So unofficially... GET THIS - 40lbs! since 11/15/04
Remember I was on full liquids for 10 days pre-surgery also.
Ok butt's tired from sitting (lost there too ) Thanks for everything (((((( friends)))))))
Oh and Cindy, I'll try it, does she do singles of that also?
God Bless,
Vickie
Hi Sharon,
It's not getting stuck, it just SUCKS.. like it all makes me nauseous.
I tried a couple samples from your bag (BTW, THANK YOU) and several others I have here at the house...
I'll get me some lemons tommorrow and try that. RIght now I got some watered down s/f f/f tang seeing if this will go down, so far, itsy bitsy sips and no problem.
Thanks so much for visiting me in the hospital too Sharon, it was so nice to meet you!
God Bless,
Vickie
Hi Vicki. The thing that got me through is my sister in law made a pot of veggie soup and put it in ice cube trays. She pureed it before she froze it. We froze them and when I had to eat I thawed it out in the microwave and it was was thick and I put it on top of mashed potatoes. It was wonderful and I had it everyday. It was like having stew. She left out the peas and corn. Good luck,Cindy
Hi Vickie....I live on water! And orange juice! The OJ is probably not the best thing for me but it soothes my pouch and it stays down. Last night I felt like I needed some real food and went to Bob Evans and ordered a breakfast to go. I knew that I couldn't swallow bacon but I chewed the living daylights out of it before I spit it out. I dipped my toast in the over easy eggs and sucked it off of the bread. When the bread got to mushy, I pitched it and got another piece. I did the same with the gravy. I didn't eat alot but I felt so much better. I'm still on pureed foods so I am very cautious about what I eat. I've lost 30 pounds so far and my energy level is still low. Hopefully now that I feel like I can eat real food, I can start building that back up. Hang in there....its bound to get better.
Cathy: Who is rapidly getting sick of milk too!
