I had my surgery on December 1st. So it has been a week today. I have lost 16 pounds in one week! Is this normal? I have no desire at all to eat. I can only force myself to eat 2 or 3 bites. Is this normal? I am still having some pain (Had lap RNY done) and I feel really tired. I was just curious to see if the way I am feeling is the way that it has been for anyone else.

Hi! Very normal. I lost 11 pounds my first week, then 3 the next. Everything you are going through is completely normal. I had to schedule my meals and literally ate out of a 1/4 cup measuring cup!!! Work on getting what you can in, and getting your fluids in! And tired! OMG YES! I was sooooo tired the first few weeks, but the energy does come back and when it does...WATCH OUT!!! You will amaze yourself at how much energy you gain when the weight is rolling off! But, for now, just go with the flow. Walk when you can. Take your pain meds because it will help you to feel better, when you feel better you are more inclined to walk and when you walk your bowels like you and so does your circulation, etc... you get the drift... Congrats on your start...sounds like everything is going great for you! Keep us posted on your progress and by all means come back and ask any questions you might have. Somebody, somewhere will have some advice or answer for you! This is a great place for support! Gentle hugs! Valerie

I had my surgery on Nov 30 and I have lost 12 pounds so far. I am having trouble eating everything too but am getting as much water as possible in me. I went out to a couple of stores tonight and it wore me out. That won't discourage me, will go out a little every day till I get some more strength. Can't wait for the Stage 2 diet which I start next week. Way to go Melinda!!! We are both losers!!!

I feel the same way. 2 bites and I am done! I try and get all of my protein in with 4 ounce shakes throughout the day. Nothing that I eat tastes like I think it should but I am hoping that this passes soon! I too am extremely tired and it has been a month since my surgery. I don't know if my age has anything to do with that, but I am thinking that I should go back to work and see if some more activity helps with the fatigue. Good luck!

Melinda, thats a great weight loss. I had my surgery Oct. 22 and still don't have any appetite. I wish someone would tell me that its o.k. not to eat at all -- just drink fluids....I know that is wishfil thinking. I never would have dreamed that it would be this way....I always had an enormous appetite. I had been told this, but until you experience it for yourself, I don't think that you realize that they mean -- you absolutely don't want anything. They say that this will pass and the appetite will return, so I guess that know is the time to drop the pounds. Good luck on your journey. Debra

Thanks for your reply, Debra. Just curious, but how much weight have you lost so far? It is funny because all I want to do is drink too. I feel thristy all the time. To stop drinking 30 minutes before I eat is very hard. I do it because I know I have to. Then after I eat I watch the clock to see when my other 30 minutes is up so I can drink again. Not being hungry at all is such a weird feeling. My doctor told me to try an egg. It took me all day to finish one egg! Hang in there. Hopefully we will soon be feeling more like ourselves again! Melinda
