OT: A Tattoo ???

Ok, this isn't at the top of my To-do list but my mind is racing with things and knew my OH buddies would have an answer for me. (Trying to keep my mind off of obsessing about my upcoming date!) How long after surgery should you wait to get a tattoo? I have one on my ankle but I would absolutely love (its one of my "down the line" goals) to get one on the small of my back. I know with some surgeries they want you to wait a certain amount of time. Has anyone done this? Not sure what I want yet, just know I want one!! Thanks!! Bev

LMAO. I was just thinking of the same thing. I haven't even been approved yet, but I'm planning on a Def Leppard Tattoo( Fave band of all time) as a reward for myself!!!!!! Now if I could just get Joe, the lead singer to marry me...Hmmm.....haha...*sigh* Cheers, Tonya

Not only do I want another tattoo, but I want my belly button pierced if I ever get my tt done!! I don't know if there really is a needed "wait" time. I would wait until you felt ok enough to sit through it. Make sure you have a reputable place in mind, and then ask them. They could probably give you a better idea. I imagine getting a tat in the small of your back will require time on your tummy and that might be ouchy for a while. I want one there too, but haven't decided on what. I was joking with my girls and said I was going to get "Happy Bunny" with lips on his booty saying "Kiss my pooper" Of course, they didn't see the humor in it! Good luck, Valerie

Been there..done that with the tattoo thing! Got a rose on my ankle. Hurt like hell and it taught me that I was never going to do that again!! Oh the things we do!!

I have a palm tree on my ankle that I got the night OSU won the bowl game, Jan 0f 02 maybe, lol. It was my christmas present from my best friend. I didnt' think it hurt, only when he did it over my ankle bone. I want one on the small of my back so I can show it off w/ low rise jeans. I want something pretty tho, not gothic or dark or anything. Like a row of flowers or ocean, something like that. I can't wait. That and shopping at Victoria Secrets are my 2 "me" goals.

Hi Bev, I am with you, when I lose weight my goal is to get a tatt on the small of my back so when I wear low cut jeans it will show! Mind you I haven't had surgery yet LOL but it's my gift to myself when the time comes. I haven't looked into it yet but the only thought I had was maybe until you get your diet stabalized and are sure you are getting enough of everything you need, a tatt may not be a good idea. Probably check with your Dr. and see what they say about it, and of course, take pictures so we can all enjoy it!!!!!! Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!! barb

I had my consult today and when I asked the dr. how long I had to wait he rolled his eyes and said...AT LEAST UNTIL YOU HEAL. lolol I told him I didnt know if I was supposed to wait a year or what, he told me about 3 months or so, just til I was healed up good. He must have thought I was but oh well, now I have 3 months to decide what it is that I want for sure!!
