Deaconess
I really enjoyed my stay there. I did hire my own nurse the first night and she took really good care of me. My husband was there all during the days. I didnt encounter any problems and feel badly for the ones who did/ I loved the smallness of the hospital and I was there over the weekend and my nurses were fine. I think......I was so drugged lol. I wish Dr.Curry could open his own clinic someday. He is so great and he needs to be somewhere where he can be in control of all of it. The only trouble I really have with deaconess is the billing department. They are really a mess./ Good luck, please dont let this influence you on using Dr.Curry because the doctor is still the very most important person and he is wonderful. Cindy
I had a wonderful stay at Deaconess. I had a nurse name Brenda, and she was the best! Yes my alarms did go off, but I would like to know of one hospital that they don't. When ever a family member has a surgery, you would expect for them to have a support person with them. The new wing is lovely, and it has all the appropriate items needed for your stay. They have a lovely little waiting room, or Tv room per say that has a fridge and the needed items you may want, like broth packets, popsicles, propel, ect. If I needed anything, the nurses went and found it for me. Yes it may of took a little while, but hey, I wasnt the only one on that floor. I was very happy with Dr Curry's care, and my individual care at this hospital. This wing is new, it will take some time for them to work out the flaws, as everything new.

I choose Deaconess because of Dr. Curry. I would imagine that most of us did. He is great and has such a wonderful personality. I was also in the hospital this last summer at Riverside in Columbus. There is a nationwide nurses shortage and I would recommend to anyone entering any hospital to take someone along as an advocate. Our local support group has a few nurses, a physicians assistant, and a social worker in it. One of the last questions I asked them was about the care they recieved while in the hospital and they all said the same thing--take someone along. I was blessed to have my husband with me the entire stay and a few days after I came home. He helped me so much by getting me ice and if the nurses were busy and couldn't come he would go and asked them something for me. He is having his surgery on Dec. 23 at Deaconess and wouldn't consider going anywhere else--of course he is having Dr. Curry. I was sick a couple of weeks ago and called Deaconess to speak to Dr. Curry. They paged him and it was less than 5 minutes until he called me back. I don't know about you, but that means everything to me. I have never had that kind of contact my doctors. I would imagine that Dr. Curry would love to see the hospital find some more nurses, but so would every hospital and Dr. in the country. Please enlist someone to go along with you to make your hospital stay a better experience. Debra
