Any State of Ohio workers?
I work for the State, so to speak. Although I'm not in the State gov't offices. I work for Ohio University. My retirement plan is through PERS as a public employee. so, all of our rules and guidelines follow the Ohio Revised Code.
We are allowed to take leave through the Family Leave Act for medical, of course....BUt that requires doctors signatures and such so no secrets there.
But we are also allowed to take "Personal Unpaid Leave". This is what you may want to check into. I have a friend who took this and they let her use her vacation time and then when it ran out, it converted to unpaid. She was off for a year.
Not sure if this helps or not, but hopefully you can figure something out that works for your needs.
Hugs,
Tonya
