Newbie here...question for Dr. C patients

Hi all, I've been lurking for awhile and have been researching wls. I've got an appt with Dr. C on Monday and I'm really looking forward to it. For Dr. C patients who've been approved, I'm wondering how long the process took...from first appt until getting approved. I know it's different with various insurance companies but I'm just trying to get a general idea. April

April, You picked the best doctor out there. I thought he was the greatest. So much that I wrote an article about him in this month's edition of the WLS Lifestyles Magazine, as well as having him perform a small bowel obstruction surgery on me in July. April, If you havent done any of your evaluations it could take a little while. Dr Curry is good at what he does. He will take care of you. I had my eval's done all except my upper GI and from my first consult to to insurance approval was 2 months. I am so happy I chose Dr Curry, you will find out on Monday how great everyone is in his office. I wish you all the luck in your new journey. If you ever need a shoulder mine is here. Hugs jackie

no first hand knowledge on dr c -but wanted to say hello to you and glad to see you posting!

Hi April, I started my initial process with a different surgeon and it took me 5 months to complete all of the initial paperwork and requirements. I went to Dr C after my insurer would not cover the first surgeon and within 3 weeks I was approved. I had my surgery on 11-16-04. You'll like Dr C and his staff, esp Nancy the Nurse who is a stickler for getting your medical stuff in order. Good Luck! Cathy
