Consult Tomorrow
I have a consult tomorrow with a surgeon to see about getting Henrietta repaired, I've had her since July 2003. I'm a little anxious about what the surgeon will say. This isn't my WLS, since I have moved from Ohio to Florida since surgery. This surgeon is, however, a WLS, actually she is the head of the Bariactric Surgery department.
I am worried about what she will say about my weight lose. It's less that 150lbs since my surgery almost 20 months ago. Nothing for the past 6 months. I have lipedema (abnormal accumalation of excess fat) with overlying lymphedema (abnormal accumalation of excess lymph fluid) which contibute to my weight, but no one can know what % of my weight is these conditions and what % is me. I know in the past 6 months I haven't stuck to the plan, but even before that when I was following it to the T the weight was not coming off at the rate I expected it would.
I wonder what the surgeon will recommend, anything surgical or just simply tell me she won't do anything until I lose more. I want to have Henrietta (hernia) repaired with some plastic surgery in mid-May, so I am getting started early so I can get everything approved by then, I hope. I am also worried she will tell me I need to have Henrietta repaired sooner and that I won't be able to get the PS approved in time to have them both together.

Hi!
Well my friend, I can't say medically what will be going on with you, but I can say I am with you in spirit, thought and prayers! The not knowing and waiting is the hardest part!
It sounds like you have found a surgeon with good credentials. Hopefully there is someone out there in similar shoes that has been there that can maybe give you some advice and ideas!
In the meantime, just try to breath, relax and let it all roll out and see what happens!
Take care!

Oh yeah, and I forgot to mention how the whole "history of DVT" will play into things now. I worry too much, have to just go with the flow, which I do...I just like to think through all the possibilities so I know my game plan if or when things happen.
I can't seem to find anyone on the FL message board who has had Dr. Byers for surgery. Dr. Cook gave me her name, said Dr. Martin used to practice in Miami and knew of her. Both my occupational therapist and PCP had good things to say about her. So I do feel I am good hands. I will ask her for a consult to a plastic surgeon she works with, she should know one that does WLS post-ops reconstructive.
