Folow-up: Pain when eating

Hi, all, just wanted to let you all know what the symptoms I described last week turned out to be. I had pain at the first few bites, regardless of if food was step II or step III. Called my fabulous surgeon (Mikami at OSU) and he and his patient care rep (Janice, also fabulous) thought I may have a narrowing of my anastomosis (a stricture) beginning. We decided since it was only pain once or twice a day and it passed to see if we could wait until I was farther out from surgery to see if it stretched itself. They advised to call if it worsened. It did, becoming every other meal, then every meal, then too much pain to eat at all (I called them back at every other meal pain). I was 'scoped on Friday, and my anastomosis had shrunk from the 12 (or 15, I forget) MM to 3MM. The 'scope was painless, quick, thorough, and my relief immediate. So, if it helps anyone who has similar pain post surgery, give your surgeon a call and don't fear this complication. Everything written about Dr. M and his staff is true - world class, all around.
