First Post on This Great Board .... PCP Question - Help!

Hello All, I have been reading your posts non-stop for two days straight. What a great group you are. I'm worried to death about my PCP. Earlier this year when I spoke to my PCP about my weight, his advise to me was drink more water and eat smaller portions. At the time I was 250lbs. and 5'7". So I'm almost sure he's not going to be well versed in WLS. Now 20lbs. heavier I'm faced with having to see him again to discuss WLS. I have Anthem HMO (Premier) Insurance and would love to change to a PCP that is more versed in WL issues. Any recommendations? I'm in Northern Kentucky but work in downtown Cincy. Please help! Hi Natalie, I can sympathize with you about your PCP and this surgery. My PCP and I knocked heads about it for months! I finally made an appointment to see her just to discuss it and we went at it. I told her that she didn't have to agree with me about the surgery, but that I needed her support to get approved. I finally reminded her that basically she worked for me and I could fire her and rehire another PCP. Not that I really wanted to do that and probably wouldn't, but I needed her to understand just how serious and committed that I was to having a surgery that I believed could save my life. We decided to disagree on the surgery but she did agree to schedule all of the tests and so on that my insurance required. When I went back to see her last week to get my pre-surgery physical she actually hugged me and wished me well. Perhaps a chat with your PCP is in order. Natalie, My PCP is awesome! He is actually featured in one of my video's, on my WLS Website. His number is 513-624-9100. His name is Dr. Daniel Roth. He is off Five Mile Road, which is off Beechmont.
