I'm A Newbie
Hello all, I'm Pauletta from Highland County, Ohio. I am a married 36 yr old mother of two teenagers. I am scheduled for a consultation Tuesday, November 2, 2004 at the Barix Clinic in Groveport. I am 5'5" tall and weigh 265 lbs. I am trying to learn all I can about this surgery and now am sure this is what I want to do. I wasn't always obese. As a teen I was very thin. During both of my pregnancies, I gained 50 lbs, much of which didn't come off after delivery. I have tried through the years to lose the weight only getting down to 180 before it all came back again plus some.
My goal is not to be stick thin. I just want to be healthy and fit, something I don't think I can acheive without the surgery. Diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholestrol run in my family and my ob/gyn feels that it might also be my fate if I don't lose weight. I want to be able to live an active life. I would love to be able to walk long distances without getting winded, run without fat slapping together and bend over to tie my shoes without the strain.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Hi Pauletta,
Welcome to the site. It is a great place to get questions answered and to talk to other people who are or have been where you are. I am also a pre-op. I will be going back to the endocrinologist next week. Hopefully I will be able to schedule an appointment with the surgeon very soon. I hope to have my surgery before winter is over. The nutritionist and psychologist seem to think I will. Again, welcome and I look forward to hearing more from you. If you have any questions feel free to ask. If I know the answer I will tell you. If I don't I'm sure someone else will.
Becky
