Hiatal Hernia repair with LapBand?

I read on the Lap Band forum that if you have a Hiatal Hernia that you must get it fixed with your surgery. Anyone in Ohio know of a Dr. that will do that? Would it stil be a lap or would they have to do it open? I have a small hernia (at least it was four years ago). Always figured that if I didn't bother it..it wouldn't bother me. cathy

Cathy, Hiatal hernias often need to be fixed with lap band insertion, as you don't want the band to herniate up into the chest. It's not terribly complicated to do. As far as surgeons who do it, I'd think all lap band surgeons would.
