Alton, Welcome to the board. Congratulations on your upcoming date. You will be in my prayers. As for the next few weeks, be sure to have a few last meals. I would also try to find a protein that you like. Something else I did, was get my home in order, and stock my shelves with all the groceries I was going to need. But most importantly, please find a support group in your area. Online support is good too, but meeting with folks once a month, or weekly is real important in your journey. If I can help in anyway, don't hesitate to contact me. I am 4 years out now, and very happy with the new me. Have a great week/weekend. Sandy Pierce Cincinnati, Ohio

Thanks for the info, Sandy. I've been trying to convince my DW that a "few last meals" is SOP with we surgery candidates. She is just not a food person.

Alton, Congrats on your surgery date. I am still waiting on mine. Everyone has told me it's important to find a protein drink you like pre-op and have some on hand for when you get home. Some of the places that sell them have sample packets you can purchase and try at home. They also sell them at GNC. Best of luck to you and please keep us updated on your progress ! Nancy

Congrats Alton!!! I have my surgery on Nov 12 and I have been drinking CarboRite french vanilla high protein mix. www.carbolite.com This is a very good drink, mix with water and 4 oz gives you 24 grams of protein.. Good Luck Jackie C

Congrats Alton, I would suggest visiting a nutritionist if you have not already done so. They can give you a pre-surgery diet to follow, to build up your strength, etc. Exercise if you can, and my nutritionist told me to take a multi-vitamin. I have a friend who works at Holzer, I understand it's a real good hospital. Best of luck to you! Kitty
