Barix
Just did my sleep study, they woke me to put me on cpap machine. I couldn't get back to sleep, they said I will need to come back and they will drug induce sleep and use the machine. I was so disappointed that it wasn't over. I hate that machine. For someone as claustrophobic as I am it was pure misery. But I tried to do it.
What other hoops do I still need to jump? Any one had their surgery at Barix-Groveport? Just need a little reassurance.
Thanks.
I had mine done there but I was not suffering from sleep apnea, so I didn't need a sleep study done. From the time I met with Dr. Viglianco until I was approved by insurance and got my date from BTC and had surgery, the total time was approxiomately 16 weeks. After my approval by insurance, the only additional testing I required was preop...I had some blood work done, an xray of my gall bladder, and then met with their dietician and respiratory therapist. I had surgery nearly three years ago. I started at 281 and am currently 146...size 4-6.
Good luck.

kelly-i understand your loathing of the cpap but it is for your own good--oh gosh-that sounded like a mother!!!
dr stelmack did my surgery 3/26/04 in groveport! love that man!
are they asking for a cardio clearance? i used to take redux so they did ask for me to have one. and my ins company wanted a psyche evaluation. a breeze....
oh- and the preops there at the facility- that is an interesting day but doesn't have to be unpleasant!
i have not looked at your profile yet- sorry! but - what ins do you have? they may ask for more-
email me if you have any specific questions...
good luck to you!margo
Kelly, I just had my preop at the Barix yesterday! It wasn't too bad. Talked to a dr., a dietician, a breathing guy, they took a chest x-ray-blood work-breathing test, and just went over your original info to make sure everything was the same. I have Dr. Barbara and have surgery scheduled for Nov 10th. I've only heard good things about them, they are strict as far as you following the rules, but we need that right lol!! Good luck to you on your journey and if I can be of any help please let me know.
