HELP! Psyc Eval.
I really need some help here guys, I am at about the end of my rope here! Just found out today that my insurance requires psyc eval. I had checked months ago about this and they said that there were no pre-requirements just send in the request and they would look it over for approval. Well now they say that they need a psyc eval and they need it in there office in 14 days or it will automatically deny and we will have to start all over again. This would not be a big deal but the darn insurance is going to stop covering this surgery as of Dec 31. So does anyone have any ideas of whom may be able to get this done in a speedy fashion? I will be an sct of god if I will be able to get in and get the eval back to them in time. I know that they just want me to give up but I have decided that I want to have this done and I have seen Dr Curry and he is the greatest!! But you all know that ) I was so mad today that I could just pull someones hair out...good thing I could not get my hands on that insurance lady from BCBS of SC, she was rude to Tracy from the Dr's office and it wasn't called for. Sorry to blow off steam guys, any help would be appreciated. Tracy from the Dr's office said that they have one that they use at Deaconess. Has anyone used this Dr?
Thanks guys!
Shelia
Hi Shelia! I actually got a list of approved Psychologists and Psychiatrists close to home from my insurance co (UHC) and called each one to see how soon they could see me and how long it would take.
I ended up going to Dr. Peggy Cook (she is on the east side of Columbus - near Reynoldsburg) and it took 2 weeks. I was able to get an appt right away, but they had to send the 150 question test away to be scored to see if I was sane or not ! They faxed the results to the surgeon's office as soon as they received it though...
Good luck!
Pam
Shelia,
I agree. Your best bet is trying to get Dr. Curry involved and see if he can use his pull to get you in with someone he uses.
However, if that does not work out, I would try the group at Mount Carmel
( Mt. Carmel Psychiatric Services, I believe they are called ) Their number is 234-2970. I saw a Dr. Romeo there, but there are at least five in the group. Dr. Romero told me he's done about one hundred of these for gastric bypass clearance. It did not take me long to get in, and he did not require that I take a bunch of psychological testing. We met just once and he had the report nearly finished by the time our appointment was over. My surgeon's office receivied it quickly too. Give them a call if you aren't able to resolve this.
Best of luck
Nancy
