What did you wear home from the hospital after your surgery? Did any of you try to get tennie shoes on? In the past my feet have swollen up so bad from IV and anestesia I was unable to do so. I realize I will be sore from the incision and I am also wondering if it would be wise to get some sweatpants to wear home. The only sweats I currently own have paint and holes all over them, not fit even for the hospital. Do ya think it would be too risque to just go home in my jammies and robe? Suggestions would be helpful as I am soooooooo clueless about these kinds of things. Hugs ~~Jaimee (yes, I am being obsessive about this now. LOL) 52 days + a wake up YIKES!!!!

Hi Jamie, I would say, wear whatever makes you comfortable. Your not gonna care what anyone else thinks about what you have on. I was trying to remember what I wore. I think I went home in my robe. I had a very short drive, like 5 miles. Seeing it will be much colder out for your surgery then it was mine, you might be warmer in sweats. I wouldn't worry about putting shoes on either. Slippers will work !! Good Luck on your upcoming surgery !! It will be here before you know it !! Cindy

i came home end of march and it was a sunny dry day- i wore home the capri's and t shirt that i had worn there- without bra tho--and i had my surgical sox still on and wore my slippers- my drive was about 3 hours - stopped to get out and walk!--and i was cuddled in pillows-- no-jammies and robe would be fine- you are after all coming home from the hospital! and you are not going to be doing the driving! if you honestly think that you would wear a pair of sweats around the house during the first few weeks post op--then get a pair--- obsessive??? naaaaaaaaaaaa not yet!!!!!! i'll tell ya when!!!

I wore home an older bra, panties, knit pants and a tee shirt , slip on shoes and knee hi stockings. I was able to dress myself, and also had a jacket to wear, since it was the end of October when I went home. They couldn't find a wheelchair to discharge me in, so I huffed and puffed my way down to the discharge area (I was carrying an extra 15 lbs of fluid, too!). Sue

Jaimee, I wore really loose sweat pants/pajama bottoms with a tie. That way I could loosen them if I needed to. I had lap surgery and the pain wasn't very bad but it did hurt when things rubbed up against the incensions. I lived in those pants for a couple of weeks once I was home. Good luck. Tandi 246/171/?

Whatever you're most comfortable in will be fine -- no one will care what you're wearing. One big suggestion though -- after surgery, my belly was very bloated. I had my surgery during the summer and I planned to wear home the shorts I came in with. They were very large on me prior to surgery, but had a waist and a zipper. I was so bloated after surgery I couldn't even get them zipped up at all when I was ready to go home. If I had to do it over, I would have taken something really big and very stretchy to wear home from the hospital and would have planned to live in it for the couple of weeks it took for the bloating to subside.
