Has anyone tried diet coke since the surgery. I am 3 months out and all of a sudden everything I try is so sweet. I do drink a cup of regular coffee everyday because it gets me going,if you know what I mean, Cindy

been there, done that, don't want to do it again. The carbonation in the coke made my pouch feel like an erupting volcanoe. I wound up hurting for about 4 hours after very little. Not everything is the same for everyone else. let us know how you do when you do try it. skp

What I did at first was shake the bottle sloooowly loosen the cap--tighten it up--shake again and sloooowly loosen the cap...People looked at me like i was crazy but it worked.. Now I dont have as much trouble but just take drinks on the slow side

I am 4 months out and I have been craving for Diet Coke but I won't drink it cause they say the carbation(sp) in it can cause your pouch to stretch. Missie, was it fine when you done all of that. I did heard if you let it go flat we can drink it but who wants to drink a pop flat. Debra French -75 pounds

I have been drinking diet pop. I pour it in a glass of ice to knock most of the fizz out. I have been drinking diet dew, diet sprite and diet pepsi. I sipped it out of the can and it almost killed me.

Cindy, On my post-op instructions, it says that you can drink carbonated drinks if you stir them with a metal spoon to remove the carbonation. It works great and I don't mind the missing carbonation one bit. I drink Diet Pepsi a couple times a week with no problems whatsoever. Donna

Cindy I guess I will go against the grain.... I'm over 2 yrs post op and have only once accidentlly sip some soda.... for me it tastes like a chemical factory...not good at all... I truley dont miss it at all... remember you need to retrain your taste buds and the more strict in the beginning the easier it will be when you get farther out from sugery. There are way to many great flavored non carb water out there ... have you tried non carb ice botancials or fruit 2 o..... just some suggestions... I was a 2- 2 ltr a day kind of girl before surgery, and of course with that came a full size bag of lays potatoe chips,.... since I can tolerated some chips, I wont do the pop and chip thing or I know I will be back up to 376 before I know it.... GOOD LUCK!! Remember you had this surgery to change your life.

Cindy H, I wouldn't rush into drinking soda. The carbonation isn't a good idea. It really does stretch the pouch. I stick to Fruit 2 0, 1% milk, and occassionally Diet Snapple Ruby Red Grapefuit Juice. Oh, and Crystal Light Pink Lemonade. Good morning by the way. Are we seeing you tonight? Sandy
