I can't do this anymore.

Marlo, Fellow person who was denied here but by Aetna. I was in the same boat as Deb who also responded-the place I went to initially was the same as where Deb went with the same outcome. I switched docs, like Deb did and they submitted and I was denied. Unfortunately, when they denied me, I didn't follow up-took what I was told as the gospel! From the end of August until September 10, I literally "engaged" in a battle with Aetna. I finally decided to not be so nice and demanded they tell me what they needed and what they had and didn't have (I had gotten conflicting responses prior). I was so nervous and upset, I broke out in hives which I have never had before. Finally, after my first appeal, I was approved. It took me calling every other day and e-mailing on the days I didn't call. What I learned was to "dog" them, demand what they had, what they needed (especially if you have met their requirements) and take names. Never give up, never surrender!!! I know the depression route-been there, done that and its not fun at all. I feel like my life has been on hold since the beginning of this year when I decided I needed this surgery to survive. My family has suffered my bouts of anger and depression having been put through all this with the insurance. For them and me, I kept on it and decided I WOULD WIN! Hang tough! Beth

Beth, Thank you for your reply. I was hoping it would not come down to that. I can get nasty if I have to. Thanks for the suggestions. Marlo

Heather, Thank you so much for your reply. That makes me feel much better, so maybe there is hope that I will be approved. I will just be patient. I know this will happen for me. Some days it gets hard for me. Medical Mutual used to approve people alot easier, at least that is what the doctors office had said. Thanks, Marlo

If you want it, fight for it. Don't take no and don't give up. That's exactly what the ins co. wants you to do.

Jack, You look great! Thanks for the support. I will keep after the insurance co. If that is what they want me to do, then I will do it. Thanks, Marlo

Marlo, I was initially denied by Medical Mutual also. After I appealed, I was was accepted. I was initially approved through Barix, but have since decided to go through OSU. Barix would not do it laparoscopically, but OSU will. I have my first dietician meeting this Thurs. After 4 weeks of dietician meetings, I'll schedule a meeting with my surgeon. I'm hoping for a surgery date around the first of the year. Hang in there !!! Eric

Definately don't give up!!! I started all my insurance process in March and was denied twice and when It finally went to the last level, I was approved. I also wrote two letters to be submitted. You will be fine.
