Tastebuds Change??
Hi Connie....
I had to wait until I was on full liquids before starting protein. My advice is to definately stick with a soy protein. The whey tastes like dirt! My tastesbuds have changed (I'm 2 months post-op), but I could tolerate protein before and I can tolerate now. If you want info on types/tastes, you can email me privately
Good luck!
Connie...
How exciting you are almost near surgery time! I think things do seem to taste sweeter. I am 9 months post op and have not had any sweets. I once by accident took a small sip of my husbands Fruit punchdrink and it was so bad I had to spit it out. A few weeks ago I had a irriatated throat and took some over the counter cough syrup and it was like taking pure sugar. I thinks it taste different b/c we go thru such a long process of getting back into soilids foods after surgery. Not to mention you are not suppose to eat the sugar stuff.
If you found a good protein then good for you. I hated them all! I ended up drinking the diabetic drink CHOICE which you can find @ Walmart.
YOu will be able protein when your doctor thinks you are ready. All of our bodies heal differently. You will progress over the first couple of months into eating more soild food. My doctor had me work my way up into different stages...1,2,3 ect.. Two of my favorites in the begining after surgery were mash potatoes and JIF reduce fat peanut butter.
Best to you!
