DENIED
I know I havent been heard from in a while, but I got a denial letter today from Highmark BCBS . The sad thing is I was so sure I would be approved because I was actually approved 2 years ago,and didnt have the surgery due to elevated white blood cell counts. Now that Im alot better I get denied. When I read the letter I cried for almost 2 hours. They said that I need documentaiton for at least 6 mos of a physician asst, diet and excercise regime. Does not make since to me since I have tried everything under the sun for more than 5 years now. I feel so helpless, like I am so scared I am going to die because of my weight, and it has finally taken a toll on me these last few months I cant sleep or lie down without my Cpap machine. Im so sorry for venting all of this I just needed to talk to someone who knows what I am going through. I guess I can appeal but I dont know where to start. Any advice would be appreciated.. Thanks Shonda
Shonda,
Don't get discouraged. I was so discouraged at one point in time, I didn't know what to do. We all, pretty much, have to go through the hoops with the insurance companies and they are all the time changing those hoops to get through too!
I'd contact your PCP and start on the 6 month documentation (it does go by pretty quickly!), and/or call BCBS and tell them you were already approved once and see if they can supply a suggestion to get around this 6 month thing.
Good luck! Hang in there!
