Surgery date changed

Hi all, Guess what? I was informed by my surgeons office that my date has been moved up a week. I will now be going in on the 29th of November. This has really put a wrench in my plans since My mom and sister have purchased tickets to come out for my original date and they seem to be impossible to switch since they were bought online. There is no way we will be able to afford to pay the difference to change the tickets. The surgeon's office has offered to write a letter for the airline to try to get them to change the reservations without a penalty, but there are no gauarantees. Not to mention, I am going to have to scramble to get my Christmas shopping done. I had planned on doing the majority on the day after Thanksgiving. I will probably be getting my stuff all ready for Monday on that day now. I am really discouraged as my mom bought the tickets last Friday. It sounds like the surgeon's office had an idea that they would need to change this date before then and they failed to tell me. UUGH! This means I have to hire someone to help with the kids. I was really counting on not having to worry about that. Okay, I am done whining now, thanks for letting me vent. ~~jaimee

Jaimee, It is okey to whine ocasionally!! We all are entitled. Everything always works out in the end. Don't let it stress you out too much because you need the time to get your mind prepared for what your body it getting ready to go through. Keep your chin up and smile! Well hopefully everything will work out in the end. On the bright side, that just means you'll be on the losing side a week earlier!! We'll all keep you and your family in our prayers... Angela

it really is too bad about the plane tickets! i understand that one! i would think that you could still do some of your shopping the day after thanksgiving--but what about catalog shopping or online as well? seriously, jaimee; if you get this chance a week early grab it everything does happen for a reason

Hi Margo, I am not going to walk away from this or anything like that, I am just discouraged that this happened. I will still need help after I get home from the hospital so it is not entirely the end of the world if they come the week after, It just makes things more expensive for us. Plus I hate leaving my kids with people I don't know. I have had to do this twice with previous hospitalizations and it was difficult to know someone I didn't know would be in my house. I may have found someone to take Mackenzie during the day on a few of those days, not sure yet. I need this surgery though and I will not walk away from it based on logistical problems. I can shop online and do catalog orders, I just hate paying the shipping. I will most likely go bargain shopping when we get paid again and try to get the bulk of it then. i know God is in this and I will see why some day. I am counting on it ! It's good to know I have a safe place to vent with you guys. You're the best!!!

Jaimee, At first I was really happy for you, getting moved up -- but now I see why you are upset. Of course, it's wonderful that you can have it done sooner, but not if it creates problems. There's no one like family as far as taking care of your kids and I know you will rest easier if you know they are being well taken care of. What I don't understand, is why the surgeons office wouldn't let you keep the Dec. surgery date if you chose to. Couldn't they have offered the earlier date to someone else? I think by the time we've all gone through these long journeys, we are so desperate for a surgery date, we let them dictate when it will be. I just don't understand why we don't get a say in it ( once approved ). But like all things, it likely happened for a reason, and will all work out in the end. Hang in there and take care! Nancy PS - Will I see you on Monday evening ? Sure hope so.

I have resigned myself to the fact that this is just how it is with the process. It could be worse. They could be telling me they had to cancel and wouldn't be able to do it. The problem with my Mid Ohio Surgical is that they are most likely not going to be accepting Medical Mutual insurance aas of December 1st, so they moved my date up so I would still be able to get my surgery. I just pray for no complications because if I have any my doctor won't be covered. I am trying to be optomistic that they will work something out with Med Mutual but I won't hold my breath. I do plan to be there Monday barring no catastrophes Jaimee

Jaimee I am pretty sure that with a doctor's letter your mom can get her ticket changed. Most airlines are adaptable to unique situations. So happy for you. I'd do my packing early and still go shopping on the Friday after Thanksgiving. Too many good deals to pass up. Who is doing your surgery? Sandy

Jaimee, Sorry that your date has been changed. Everything will work out. I found out that my Dr is sending me to OSU for their program. I have a 6 month period ahead of me. You hang in there... and if you need to talk... I am here. Julie
